Solar Wires & Cables We Supply
Three cable types covering every section of a solar installation — from panel string to grid connection to internal switchgear wiring.
Polycab DC Wire
UV-resistant tinned copper cable for solar string wiring
Polycab DC solar cables are purpose-built for the demanding environment between solar panels and the inverter. Unlike general-purpose cables, they carry a 1500V DC rating, UV-stabilised outer insulation that resists degradation under constant sunlight, and tinned copper conductors that prevent oxidation at the crimp points and MC4 connector terminations. Used in all Heaven Green Energy residential and commercial installations.
Key Features
- Rated for 1500V DC — future-proof for high-voltage string designs
- Tinned copper resists oxidation at all termination points
- UV and ozone-resistant sheath for outdoor rooftop exposure
- Flexible multi-strand core for easy routing around roof obstacles
- IEC 62930 certified for photovoltaic applications
- Compatible with all standard MC4 connectors

Polycab AC Wire
Armoured AC cable for inverter-to-grid connections
The AC output of a solar inverter feeds into your main distribution board or directly to the grid metering point. This cable run must handle the full rated current of the inverter continuously — often through conduit, cable trays, or direct burial. Polycab AC cables for solar applications are armoured, flame-retardant, and sized for the specific inverter capacity to prevent voltage drop and comply with DISCOM interconnection requirements.
Key Features
- Armoured construction for underground or conduit runs
- Sized by inverter capacity — correct cross-section every time
- Flame-retardant and LSZH sheath options available
- Suitable for single-phase and three-phase inverter outputs
- IS 1554 compliant — accepted by all Gujarat DISCOMs for net metering
- Low capacitance design reduces AC harmonic interference

Havells Wire
BIS-certified AC wiring for internal solar system circuits
Havells wires handle internal AC wiring within the solar system — from the distribution board to switchgear, from the ACDB to load circuits, and for any control or monitoring wiring. BIS certification ensures these wires meet IS 694 standards, a mandatory requirement for installations that must pass electrical safety inspections and DISCOM approvals. Havells's reputation for consistent quality across batches makes them the dependable choice for solar EPC projects.
Key Features
- BIS certified under IS 694 — mandatory for DISCOM approvals
- Electrolytic-grade copper for maximum conductivity
- FR-PVC insulation for flame retardance
- FRLSH grade reduces toxic smoke emission in enclosed spaces
- Consistent colour coding for safe identification during maintenance
- Available in 1.5 sq mm to 16 sq mm for different circuit loads

DC vs AC Cables — Why They Are Different
Many installers use general-purpose AC cables throughout a solar system to cut cost. This is a safety and compliance risk. Here is what differentiates DC and AC cables, and why each section needs the right specification.
DC Side (Panel → Inverter)
All wiring from solar panel strings to the DCDB and inverter DC input runs as direct current. This section operates at higher voltages (up to 1500V DC in modern string designs) and requires cables with a specific DC voltage rating, UV resistance, and tinned copper conductors.
Key Requirements
- 1500V DC rated insulation (not just 1100V AC)
- UV-stabilised outer sheath for outdoor exposure
- Tinned copper to prevent oxidation at MC4 terminations
- IEC 62930 certification for PV application
- Correct cross-section per string current to minimise I²R losses
AC Side (Inverter → Grid)
AC wiring connects the inverter output to your main DB and ultimately to the DISCOM net meter. This section runs at grid voltage (230V or 415V AC) and must be sized for the inverter's full rated output current with less than 2% voltage drop over the cable run.
Key Requirements
- IS 1554 or IS 7098 compliant armoured cable for long runs
- Sized by inverter kW rating and cable run length
- DISCOM-approved cable type and cross-section
- Proper earthing continuity through armour or separate earth wire
- Phase-colour coded for safe identification and maintenance
Cable Quality Affects Safety, Efficiency & Approvals
Cables are invisible once installed. That invisibility is exactly why cutting corners on cable quality is dangerous — the consequences show up years later when fixing them is costly.
Fire Safety
Undersized or substandard cables overheat under load. In a solar system running at full generation for 6–8 hours daily, the heat accumulation in a poor cable can degrade insulation within months. Polycab and Havells cables are tested to IEC and BIS standards for sustained current-carrying capacity at Indian ambient temperatures up to 50°C.
System Efficiency
Cable resistance directly reduces the power your system delivers. A 4 sq mm cable where 6 sq mm is required can waste 2–3% of annual generation in resistive losses — costing you thousands of rupees over the system lifetime. Correct cable sizing is an investment in generation, not an expense.
DISCOM Approval
Net-metering inspections in Gujarat require BIS-certified cables conforming to IS 694 and IS 1554. Non-certified or substandard cables can result in inspection failure, delayed approvals, and forced re-wiring before your system can go live. Using Polycab and Havells means inspection-ready documentation from day one.
Long-Term Reliability
Solar cables are typically buried in conduit or routed under panel arrays — areas that are difficult to access for re-wiring once the system is complete. Using properly rated cables from trusted brands means you will not face wiring degradation, insulation cracking, or earth-fault nuisance tripping in year 5 or year 10.
