Rooftop solar in Indore costs roughly ₹55,000 to ₹70,000 per kW before subsidy. A 3 kW system therefore runs about ₹1.85 lakh to ₹2.30 lakh, falling to ₹1.07 lakh to ₹1.52 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. Each kW generates 4 to 4.5 units a day here. MPPKVVCL, the MP West Discom, handles your net metering. Payback lands between three and a half and five years.

Indicative Indore market ranges for 2026, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. These are not a Heaven Green quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.
Size against units, not rupees. Take the units figure off your last MPPKVVCL bill rather than the amount, because units are what a system cancels. Shadow-free is also the operative phrase in that roof column: a water tank or a neighbour's parapet shading the array two hours a day costs more than people expect, and in dense areas like Old Palasia an elevated structure earns its extra steel.
The 3 kW cliff is real. The subsidy covers 34 to 42% of a 3 kW system but only 12 to 15% of a 10 kW one, because nothing is paid above 3 kW. With a borderline bill, 3 kW wins on rupees returned.
A cheap Indore quote is cheap in the structure, not the panels. Galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing and surge protection separate the bottom of each band from the top, and they decide whether your array survives a pre-monsoon squall. Ask for a written Bill of Materials listing make, model and quantity. Without one you are not comparing prices.
Why there is no rupee saving in that table
Notice there is no rupee saving in that table. The rupee figure depends on the slab rate you personally pay, which is printed on your own bill and differs between consumers, so we will not guess it here. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we will work the exact number out with you, in front of you. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our

How the subsidy works
Five steps, and we run four of them.
Anyone advertising a larger "Indore subsidy" is describing something that does not exist: the scheme is central, so the amount is national. What changes by city is who processes the application, and here that is MPPKVVCL.
1
Register on the National Portal
You register at pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your MPPKVVCL consumer number, mobile, Aadhaar and address. We sit with you for this, because a consumer number that does not match MPPKVVCL records is the commonest cause of a stalled application.
2
Apply for feasibility, then pick your vendor
MPPKVVCL checks your application against your sanctioned load. You then select an empanelled vendor. Heaven Green Energy is empanelled, so we map to your application directly.
3
Install after approval, never before
We supply Adani modules with traceable serial numbers, then hand you a Bill of Materials and warranty schedule.
4
Inspection and net meter
MPPKVVCL inspects and fits the bidirectional meter, generating a commissioning certificate on the portal. Our engineer attends.
5
Claim and credit
We file the claim once the certificate issues, and government credits the subsidy straight to your account. It never passes through us, so treat any vendor offering to collect it for you as a warning sign.
If you are a business, this section does not apply
PM Surya Ghar covers residential consumers only. Businesses in Indore cannot claim it, but they can claim accelerated depreciation on the asset, which for a taxpayer often beats what the residential subsidy would have paid.
MPPKVVCL (MP West Discom)
Net metering: who you actually file with.
Net metering is where competing Indore pages go wrong, and the error costs you every export credit you were counting on.
Indore sits with Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPPKVVCL), the West Discom, headquartered in Indore. It is a separate company from MPMKVVCL, the Central discom in Bhopal, and MPPoKVVCL in Jabalpur. Pages that place Indore under the "Madhya Kshetra" company, or link the Central discom's portal, point you at the wrong utility.
Commercial terms come from the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC), not from the discom and not from us. Under MPERC's regulations your system caps at your sanctioned load, and every consumer category may apply.
1
Application
Consumer details, sanctioned load, system rating, single-line diagram and equipment datasheets go to MPPKVVCL.

2
Technical feasibility
The discom tests whether your transformer and sanctioned load carry the proposed capacity. Oversized systems fail here, which is why we size against sanctioned load on the first visit.

Not a home?
Solar for Indore's businesses.
Running a shop, factory or clinic rather than a home? The economics work differently and this page is written for homeowners.
Businesses in Sanwer Road, Pithampur, Rau and the wider Malwa corridor get no PM Surya Ghar subsidy. Instead they claim accelerated depreciation on the asset, which for a taxpaying business often returns more than the residential subsidy would, and they can avoid capital outlay entirely through OPEX or RESCO models.
We deliver turnkey commercial and industrial EPC across the Indore belt, with structural design to wind-load standards, MPPKVVCL registration and long-term O&M.
We have built solar since 2017 and delivered more than 10,000 installations across India, from single rooftops to industrial plants in the hundreds of kilowatts.

What Indore weather does to a solar system
A system designed for a coastal Gujarat roof is wrong for the Malwa plateau. Three local conditions change the engineering, and a vendor who ignores them quotes you less and delivers less.
Summer heat derating
Indore crosses 40°C in May, and module output falls as cell temperature climbs. Airflow is the fix: real clearance between module and roof so heat escapes. A structure bolted flush to the terrace to save steel costs you generation every summer for twenty-five years.
Malwa dust and soiling
Dry-season dust and construction along the Super Corridor and Sanwer Road build a soiling layer on the glass. Soiling is the most underrated cause of weak output here precisely because it is invisible from the ground. Indore roofs want cleaning every two to three weeks from March to June. Our AMC covers it.
Squalls and lightning
The plateau takes sharp wind events before and during the monsoon. Galvanising thickness, foundation design and fastener grade keep an array on the roof, and a cut-price quote thins those first. Earthing and surge protection guard the inverter, the costliest part you will ever replace.

Before you sign
Six things to check on any Indore quote.
Including ours. Take this list to every vendor you speak to.
Ask for a written Bill of Materials with make, model and quantity. Any vendor who will not give you one is not quoting a comparable price.
Check the system fits your MPPKVVCL sanctioned load. Oversized systems fail feasibility, and that is the commonest reason an Indore roof generates without an approved net meter.
Confirm the vendor is empanelled on the PM Surya Ghar portal, or your ₹78,000 cannot be claimed.
Get the warranty schedule with product and performance cover written separately, not blurred into one number.
Ask what the structure is rated for. Galvanising and wind-load design is the first thing a cheap quote removes, and it is what holds the array down in a pre-monsoon squall.
Take the units figure, not the rupee figure, off your last bill. Units are what a system is sized against.
Questions
Solar in Indore: every question answered.
17 questions Indore buyers actually search for, including the ones
competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.
Cost & subsidy
What is the cost of solar panel installation in Indore in 2026?
Roughly ₹55,000 to ₹70,000 per kW installed before subsidy. That puts 3 kW at ₹1.85 to ₹2.30 lakh, 5 kW at ₹2.90 to ₹3.50 lakh and 10 kW at ₹5.30 to ₹6.40 lakh. Structure quality, protection specification and roof height drive the spread, not the panel brand.
What is the price of a 3 kW solar system in Indore with subsidy?
Between ₹1.07 lakh and ₹1.52 lakh net, from ₹1.85 to ₹2.30 lakh less the ₹78,000 subsidy. A 3 kW system generates 360 to 405 units a month in Indore, covering a household that uses 300 to 400 units. It is the smallest system earning the maximum subsidy, which is why it sells most.
How much subsidy do I get on solar panels in Indore?
Up to ₹78,000. Per pmsuryaghar.gov.in, PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, and nothing beyond. So 1 kW earns ₹30,000, 2 kW earns ₹60,000, and 3 kW or larger earns ₹78,000. Government credits it straight to your bank account.
Can I get solar on EMI or a loan in Indore?
Yes. Residential rooftop solar falls under priority-sector lending and several banks and NBFCs finance it. Most Indore households finance the pre-subsidy amount, then prepay principal when the subsidy lands. We can introduce financing partners, though comparing their terms against your own bank is the smarter move.
Net metering & DISCOM
Which DISCOM serves Indore for rooftop solar?
MPPKVVCL, Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, the West Discom headquartered in Indore. It is a different company from MPMKVVCL, the Bhopal-based Central discom, and MPPoKVVCL in Jabalpur. Some solar sites list Indore under the Central discom; filing there will not process your connection.
Is net metering available in Indore, and what happens to my extra units?
Yes. Under the MPERC framework your system may be sized up to your sanctioned load, and all consumer categories qualify. Your home uses solar first by day and exports the surplus to MPPKVVCL as credit against units drawn at night or through the monsoon, so a March to May surplus banks against the monsoon dip.
How long does MPPKVVCL net metering take in Indore?
A few weeks from application to installed bidirectional meter, covering feasibility, post-installation inspection and the meter swap. Installation itself is only days of that. The discom-controlled steps set the pace and no installer can compress them, so treat a guaranteed one-week net meter as a red flag.
Do I need MPPKVVCL approval before installing solar in Indore?
Yes, for any grid-connected system, which is nearly everyone. The order runs application, feasibility approval, installation, then inspection and meter. Installing first is how roofs end up generating with no export credit, and how oversized systems get rejected. We file in the right order for you.
Sizing & performance
How many units does 1 kW of solar generate per day in Indore?
About 4 to 4.5 units daily, averaged across the year. Indore gets roughly 5 peak sun hours, a strong resource for central India. Output beats that average from March to May and falls below it during the July to September monsoon. Over a year, expect 1,450 to 1,600 units per kW.
What size solar system do I need for a 2 BHK or 3 BHK home in Indore?
A 2 BHK usually needs 2 to 3 kW and a 3 BHK 3 to 5 kW, but size against consumption rather than floor plan. Take the units from twelve months of MPPKVVCL bills and pick the system that covers your average month.
How many ACs can run on a 3 kW or 5 kW solar system?
A 1.5-ton split AC draws 1.2 to 1.5 units per hour while the compressor runs. A 3 kW system making 12 to 13.5 units a day in Indore supports one AC by day plus normal household load. Two ACs through an Indore summer needs 5 kW. At night you draw grid power against banked credits.
How much roof area do I need for solar in Indore?
About 90 to 100 sq ft of genuinely shadow-free area per kW, so roughly 300 sq ft for 3 kW and 500 sq ft for 5 kW. Shadow-free matters: a tank or neighbouring parapet shading the array two hours a day costs real output. An elevated structure recovers area on a congested terrace.
Will solar work during the Indore monsoon and on cloudy days?
Yes, at reduced output, because panels generate from diffuse light. This is why net metering beats batteries here: the surplus you export through the dry months offsets the monsoon shortfall as bill credits, so the system is sized on annual generation rather than on the worst week.
Installation & service
How long does solar installation take in Indore?
Two to four days on a typical residential roof. The full journey, from survey and proposal through the portal and MPPKVVCL applications to inspection and net meter, runs several weeks, with the discom steps as the variable. We give you a date range at proposal stage and name which steps are ours.
What maintenance do solar panels need in Indore?
Mainly cleaning. Malwa dust from March to June, plus construction dust along the Super Corridor and Sanwer Road, builds a soiling layer that cuts output with no visible fault. Clean every two to three weeks through the dry months, less in the monsoon, and check connections and earthing twice yearly. Our AMC covers both.
Can I add more panels to my system later?
Usually yes, within two limits: your inverter capacity and your MPPKVVCL sanctioned load. Tell us at survey stage if you expect to expand and we will specify an inverter with headroom and lay the structure out accordingly. Going beyond sanctioned load needs a load-enhancement application first.
