Anyone shortlisting the best solar software in the Netherlands for 2026 is buying tools for a business model that has a fixed expiry date. Until that date the meter runs backwards and a kilowatt-hour exported is worth a kilowatt-hour imported, energy tax included. What the End of Saldering Does to the Software Question

Under saldering the software job was simple, and that simplicity is why Dutch stacks have historically been thin. Annual export netted against annual import, the customer paid the difference, and a design tool with an annual yield number could produce an honest quote. Monitoring existed to prove the system worked. Home energy management was a hobbyist purchase. Battery attach rates were low because there was very little for a battery to do when the grid already acted as a free, lossless, tax-refunded store.

From 1 January 2027 every one of those statements stops being true. The grid stops acting as a store. The value of a kilowatt-hour depends on the hour it is produced and whether anything in the house wants it. Terugleverkosten, the feed-in charges suppliers now levy, sit between the exported kilowatt-hour and the customer’s wallet. Dynamic contracts and hourly prices become worth optimising against rather than curiosities. 1. SurgePV

Honest limitations. Five real ones, and they get worse rather than better after 2027. It does no monitoring at all, so the layer that carries the post-saldering value proposition is entirely absent. It does no home energy management and no battery dispatch, so it can model a battery’s benefit but cannot deliver it, which is an uncomfortable gap when the battery is what makes the payback work. It does not integrate with Exact Online or AFAS, so the offerte and the invoice live in different systems and somebody retypes. It has no netcongestie or connection-queue tracking, so a commercial pipeline waiting on transport capacity is managed elsewhere. And Dutch brand tenure is thin against Solar Monkey, which residential installers here have been closing deals in for years.

2. Solar Monkey

What it does best. Being Dutch, and covering three layers because of it. Built in Delft, Solar Monkey pulls Dutch address and building data, produces a residential layout and a Dutch-language proposal faster than any imported tool, and then continues past handover into monitoring with a yield guarantee product attached. That last part is the reason it belongs high in a stack ranking rather than only in a design ranking: it is one of very few vendors in this market that follows a system from quote to operation in one contract, which after 2027 is a structurally stronger position than a design-only tool.

Real pricing. Not a per-seat licence. Solar Monkey publishes a package price of EUR 525 per month including 50 projects, so about EUR 6,300 a year, with API integration a further EUR 95 per month. Paying quarterly adds 5 percent and paying annually adds 10 percent, and there is a 14-day trial. The per-project rate above the included 50 is not published.

Who it suits. Dutch residential installers running volume, and firms who want design, proposal and monitoring from one Dutch vendor with one support number.

Honest limitations. Residential-first. On a 500 kWp logistics roof with an export cap and a battery its engineering depth and reporting are thinner than a dedicated simulation tool, and lenders do not treat its output as a bankable yield report. There is no ground-mount capability and no full electrical design deliverable in the sense an inspector wants. Its market is essentially the Benelux, so a firm expanding into Germany needs a second tool. And because the price is a package rather than a seat count, a small team pays the same EUR 525 a month as a busy one, which makes it expensive at low volume and comparatively cheap at high volume.

3. HomeWizard

What it does best. Making Dutch household energy legible, cheaply, at the meter. HomeWizard, built in Amsterdam, reads the P1 port on the Dutch smart meter and turns it into per-second import and export data, with plug-in measurement for individual circuits and appliances, plus battery and charging products in the same app. For an installer this is the least expensive way to obtain the thing that matters most after saldering ends: a genuine measured picture of when a household imports and when it exports. That data is what makes a battery quote honest and a HEMS conversation possible.

Real pricing. Hardware rather than subscription. A P1 meter reader is commonly EUR 30 to EUR 40, energy sockets a similar figure each, with the app included and optional paid tiers for extended history.

Who it suits. Residential installers who want measured load data on every customer without a monitoring subscription, and anyone building a battery retrofit pipeline out of an existing customer base.

Honest limitations. It is a consumer product with a consumer support model, not a fleet tool. There is no installer portal that gives you one triaged list across hundreds of sites, no ticketing, no performance ratio reporting and nothing for commercial work. Control capability is limited compared with a real HEMS, so it tells you what happened rather than changing what happens. No design, no proposals, no ERP.

4. Huawei FusionSolar

What it does best. Covering monitoring and control in one place on hardware that has a large and growing Dutch installed base. FusionSolar gives per-site and per-optimiser production data, fault alerting to the installer, and, where a LUNA battery and the associated management components are fitted, actual dispatch behaviour: charging from surplus, discharging into evening load, and export limiting where the connection requires it. After 2027 that combination is what a Dutch customer is really buying, and having it inside the inverter vendor’s own platform at no licence cost is a strong commercial position.

Real pricing. Included with the hardware, including the installer fleet portal. Commercial and O&M feature sets are licensed per plant.

Who it suits. Installers standardised on Huawei for residential and small commercial, particularly those selling PV plus battery as a single package.

Honest limitations. Hardware locked, and a Dutch fleet built over six years typically spans SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, GoodWe and Growatt as well, which means several portals and no fleet view. Its optimisation logic is tuned to the vendor’s own components, so a mixed battery or heat pump setup falls outside it. Dynamic tariff optimisation against Dutch hourly prices is weaker than a dedicated HEMS. No design, no proposals, no ERP, no queue tracking.

5. Exact Online

What it does best. Being the Dutch administrative spine that your accountant already assumes. Exact, founded in Delft, is close to a default for Dutch SME bookkeeping, with invoicing, purchasing, project administration, hour registration, BTW returns and the accountant portal your boekhouder logs into directly. For a solar installer the parts that matter beyond invoicing are project costing, which lets you see margin per installation rather than per month, and the BTW handling, which in this market includes the residential reclaim mechanics that appear in every quote conversation.

Real pricing. Roughly EUR 50 to EUR 180 per month depending on module set and user count, so about EUR 600 to EUR 2,200 a year for a small installer, more once project and manufacturing modules are added.

Who it suits. Essentially every Dutch installer, because the alternative is an accountant charging you to work around whatever you chose instead.

Honest limitations. It is accounting and light ERP. It knows nothing about kWp, yield, saldering or export limits, so the quote it produces is a line-item document rather than a designed system. Crew planning is thin, and its CRM is a contact database rather than a pipeline. Configuration for a project-based business takes real effort, usually with a partner. 6. Enphase Enlighten

What it does best. Per-module visibility plus a credible route into home energy management. Enlighten shows production at module level, which makes a shading or hardware fault identifiable from the office, and where Enphase batteries and controllers are fitted it extends into storage dispatch and load control. For a Dutch installer that matters because Dutch residential roofs are frequently partly shaded by neighbouring buildings, and because module-level diagnosis reduces the number of visits that end without a finding.

Real pricing. Included with the hardware, with the metering kit needed for consumption data as an additional install cost.

Who it suits. Installers standardised on Enphase microinverters, especially in dense urban housing where shading is the dominant design constraint.

Honest limitations. It only exists where you fitted Enphase, so it is no help across the rest of your fleet. Consumption data requires the metering hardware, which many earlier Dutch installs do not have, leaving you with generation-only data that is useless for a post-saldering battery conversation. Dynamic tariff optimisation against Dutch hourly prices is not its strength. No design, no proposals, no ERP.

7. gridX

What it does best. Being an actual energy management platform rather than a monitoring portal with a battery tab. gridX provides the software layer that reads a site, forecasts generation and load, and dispatches batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps against a tariff signal, with the hardware-agnostic device integration that a mixed European fleet requires. For a Dutch installer or energy service company building a proposition around dynamic contracts after 2027, this is the category the value now sits in, and it is a category most solar roundups still do not list at all.

Real pricing. Business to business, licensed per connected site with a gateway where devices cannot be reached directly, commonly a few euros per site per month plus hardware, quoted by fleet size.

Who it suits. Installers and energy service providers building a managed offering rather than selling a box, aggregators, and anyone whose customers are moving onto dynamic tariffs.

Honest limitations. One layer, and a technical one. No design, no proposals, no CRM, no bookkeeping. It assumes a fleet worth orchestrating, so it makes little commercial sense below a few dozen managed sites. Per-site commissioning takes real effort and device support is only as good as each manufacturer’s interface. This is a platform decision rather than a tool purchase, and it usually needs someone technical to own it.

8. AFAS Software

What it does best. Running a Dutch installatiebedrijf as a business. AFAS, from Leusden, is a Dutch ERP with project administration, purchasing, planning, hour registration, HR and payroll in one system, and it is widely used in the Dutch technical installation sector specifically. For an installer past roughly fifteen people, where the real problem is that project planning, purchasing and payroll have drifted apart, this is the category that fixes it, and it is Dutch rather than translated.

Real pricing. Quoted rather than published, commonly a four to five figure annual figure depending on modules and headcount, plus a genuine implementation project.

Who it suits. Established Dutch installateurs past fifteen employees, particularly those doing PV alongside heat pumps and electrical work.

Honest limitations. It knows nothing about photovoltaics: no kWp, no yield, no saldering, no export limits, no string sizing. Implementation is a project measured in months and a half-configured ERP is worse than none. It is heavy and expensive for a five-person installer, which is what Teamleader is for. Simplicate and Bouw7 are the closer alternatives for smaller project-based firms.

9. Teamleader Focus

What it does best. Being the Benelux-shaped CRM and quoting tool that a mid-sized Dutch installer will actually keep using. Built in Ghent, it covers leads, offertes, project follow-up, time tracking and invoicing, integrates with Exact Online and the Dutch banking and payment norms, and does not require a consultant to configure. For the Netherlands specifically, the useful move is to model the netcongestie connection queue as pipeline stages, so a commercial opportunity waiting on transport capacity has an owner, a date and a next action rather than sitting in someone’s inbox for eight months.

Real pricing. Roughly EUR 30 to EUR 70 per user per month by tier, so about EUR 1,800 to EUR 4,200 a year for five users.

Who it suits. Installers with more than one person selling, commercial-focused firms with long cycles, and anyone whose offertes go quiet during a netbeheerder wait.

Honest limitations. Generic. No solar design, no yield, no saldering logic, no production data, and the quote it produces is a document rather than a modelled system. Its project and resource planning are lighter than AFAS, which is what you outgrow. And it will not track the connection queue for you: you have to design those stages yourself, because no vendor has built netcongestie into a CRM.

10. meteocontrol VCOM Cloud

What it does best. Commercial and utility-scale monitoring with the evidence trail behind it. Hardware-agnostic data acquisition, performance ratio tracking against irradiance sensors, availability reporting and ticketing, which is the category you buy from when you carry a performance guarantee on a Dutch logistics or agricultural roof. For C&I portfolios where an export cap is part of the connection agreement, it also gives you the record of what the site was allowed to do versus what it did, which is the argument you will eventually have with a netbeheerder or an asset owner.

Real pricing. Priced per plant and per megawatt, commonly a few hundred to a few thousand euros per site per year depending on capacity, data granularity and whether the datalogger is included.

Who it suits. Asset owners, O&M providers and EPCs carrying performance guarantees on Dutch commercial and ground-mount portfolios.

Honest limitations. No design, simulation, proposal or CRM capability whatsoever. Overkill for a residential fleet where the inverter portal is adequate and free. Commissioning takes engineering time and hardware per site. Solar-Log is often the cheaper answer below roughly 100 kWp on a mixed-brand commercial fleet.

Verdict. Buy the design and proposal licence first, because it is the only layer where a bad tool changes the number the customer signs, and because the 2027 model has to be right in the document rather than in a footnote. Buy the administrative layer second, because Exact is where the invoice actually happens. Then make a deliberate decision about monitoring and home energy management before 2027 rather than after, because that is the layer that will carry the proposition once saldering stops.

Netcongestie Is an Operational Job, Not a Design Constraint

Grid congestion is the second structural fact of Dutch solar and it has quietly created work that no solar software product performs. Large parts of the Dutch network are full for transport capacity, thousands of large consumers are queued, and a commercial customer’s connection request can sit for months or years depending on the postcode. From 2026 small consumers begin to feel the same constraint in some areas.

What that means practically is that a Dutch C&I pipeline has a stage no other country’s pipeline has: waiting for the netbeheerder. It is not a sales stage, because nothing you do moves it. It is not a project stage, because nothing is being built. It is a queue position that has to be tracked, refreshed and communicated to a customer who will otherwise assume you have forgotten them.

Three software consequences follow, and none of them is solved by buying a better design tool:

  1. The CRM needs congestion stages. Capacity check requested, netbeheerder response received, queue position confirmed, transport agreement signed. Model them explicitly in Teamleader, AFAS or whatever you run, with an owner and a review date on each.
  2. The proposal cannot promise a switch-on date. A commercial offerte that names a delivery month before transport capacity is confirmed is a complaint waiting to be filed. Name the dependency instead.
  3. The design has to model the cap, not ignore it. Where a connection is limited, the array is deliberately larger than the export allowance and the clipping is intentional. Monitoring and HEMS: The Layer That Becomes the Product

Before 2027, monitoring in the Netherlands was a reassurance product. The customer’s meter ran backwards regardless, so the portal existed to prove the panels worked and to settle the occasional warranty argument. After 2027 that changes completely, because the difference between a good year and a poor one is no longer how much the system produced but how much of it the household used or stored at the right hour.

That promotes three capabilities from optional to load-bearing:

  1. Measured half-hourly or finer consumption. Without it, a post-saldering payback figure is a guess, and a battery recommendation is a preference. The Stack a Dutch Installer Should Actually Buy

This is the prescription by business type, in euros. Every one of these is two or three paid licences, and every one of them makes a deliberate decision about the post-2027 layer rather than deferring it.

  1. Solo installateur or two-person shop, up to 4 projects a month.
