Trace Software publishes no rate card for archelios Pro or the archelios Suite on its own site and sells through quotes, with per-module licensing that makes the true total impossible to read from the website. Any per-seat figure circulating in a directory is a third-party estimate rather than a Trace Software price.
Who it suits. Bureaux d’etudes, technical consultancies and installers whose deliverable is an engineering document rather than a sales document.
Honest limitations. No CRM, no invoicing, no project tracking, no field operations and no monitoring. It is one layer of six, sold at a full-stack price. Onboarding is real work, the interface shows its age against cloud-native tools, and proposal output is functional rather than persuasive. 3. Sellsy
What it does best. The French commercial spine. Sellsy is a French cloud CRM with pipeline, devis, facturation, payment tracking and accounting export in one product, built by a French company for French tax and invoicing rules. For an installer whose quotes live in Word and whose invoices live in a spreadsheet, this is the layer that stops revenue leaking. It matters more in 2026 than it did in 2024 because the facturation electronique reform makes compliant invoicing a legal requirement rather than a preference, with the timetable published by the French tax administration.
Real pricing. Roughly €45 to €70 per user per month depending on the module set, so about €2,700 to €4,200 a year for five users.
Who it suits. Installers past roughly five employees whose devis, invoices and follow-up have drifted into three different places.
Honest limitations. It knows nothing about photovoltaics. No kWc, no yield, no tarif brackets, no string sizing. The quote it produces is a line-item document, not a designed system, so it sits beside your design tool rather than replacing it. 4. EBP Batiment and Sage Batigest
What it does best. The trade ERP a French artisan’s expert-comptable already understands. Devis with detailed ouvrages and libraries of French building trade line items, situations de travaux, retenue de garantie, purchase orders, stock and the accounting export your comptable expects without a conversation. If you also do roofing, electrical or renovation work alongside PV, this is the product family your peers are on.
Real pricing. Roughly €40 to €80 per user per month on subscription, so about €2,400 to €4,800 a year for five users, with implementation and training often billed separately.
Who it suits. Established artisan businesses and small entreprises generales where solar is one trade among several.
Honest limitations. Heavy and dated. No solar intelligence whatsoever, no simulation, no monitoring, and a user interface that assumes you were trained on it. Mobile and field use is the weakest part of the offer. Configuration usually requires a reseller, which adds cost that never appears in a published price list.
5. Organilog
What it does best. French field service. Intervention scheduling, technician mobile app, timesheets, geolocated job records, photo capture against the intervention, and the rapport d’intervention the customer signs on the tablet. For the maintenance and SAV side of a solar business, which grows every year your installed base grows, this is the layer that removes the phone calls.
Real pricing. Roughly €25 to €50 per user per month, so about €1,500 to €3,000 a year for five users.
Who it suits. Installers running two or more crews, and anyone whose service and warranty visits have started to compete with new installs for calendar space.
Honest limitations. It is trade-agnostic, so it knows nothing about PV. Commissioning and test data end up as free-text notes and photos rather than structured records, which weakens them later. It is not a project tracker for long administrative chains either: it is built around interventions of hours and days, not dossiers of months. And its reporting is thinner than a dedicated O&M platform once your portfolio passes a few hundred sites.
6. Enphase Enlighten
What it does best. Residential monitoring on the hardware a large share of the French residential market already has. Enphase microinverters are common on French rooftops, and Enlighten gives per-module production, consumption where a meter is fitted, alerting, and an installer fleet view across every system you have commissioned. Module-level data means a shading or a connector fault shows up as one panel rather than as a vague total shortfall.
Real pricing. Included with the hardware. Installer fleet tools are free, and premium consumption features are usually bundled with the system rather than licensed separately.
Who it suits. Residential installers standardised on Enphase, especially those selling autoconsommation with battery attached.
Honest limitations. Hardware locked, and completely useless for the string inverters on the rest of your fleet. No design, no proposals, no work orders, no invoicing. Commercial and portfolio reporting is thinner than a dedicated O&M platform, and performance ratio reporting is not at the level a commercial client with a production guarantee will accept.
7. Fronius Solar.web and SMA Sunny Portal
What it does best. Monitoring the string-inverter half of your French fleet. Solar.web gives production and consumption data, energy flow, alerting and remote service access on Fronius hardware, with a customer app that absorbs a real share of support calls. Sunny Portal does the equivalent job on SMA, with stronger commercial and portfolio tooling. Both are included with the hardware, which makes them the correct default rather than a compromise.
Real pricing. Free with the inverter. Premium and O&M feature sets are small per-inverter or per-plant fees.
Who it suits. Any French installer with Fronius or SMA in the ground, which is most of them.
Honest limitations. The same hardware lock as Enphase, multiplied. A six-year-old French installer typically has Enphase on some roofs, Fronius on others, SolarEdge where shading demanded optimisers and Huawei on the price-sensitive jobs. That is four portals, four alert formats and no fleet view, which is exactly how a service department loses a day a week.
8. PVsyst
What it does best. Bankability. When a French bank, an insurer or an independent technical advisor wants a second opinion on a 12 MWc parc or a large ombriere project, the PVsyst loss diagram is the document they name. The near-shading and loss models are documented well enough to survive technical due diligence.
Real pricing. PVsyst bills in Swiss francs on an annual subscription rather than a perpetual licence. Professional is CHF 700 per user per year, roughly €750 at about €1.07 per franc, with group discounts of 5 to 20 percent by quantity. Five seats is about CHF 3,500, well under the €5,900 SurgePV charges for five, and we would rather say that than have you find it on the PVsyst shop page. The difference is that PVsyst buys one layer of the six and SurgePV buys three.
Who it suits. Independent engineers, technical due diligence teams and developers producing yield reports for debt or equity.
Honest limitations. Desktop only, steep learning curve, no proposal layer, no CRM, no French document templates, no project tracking and no monitoring. It is a physics tool rather than a business tool. 9. Odoo
What it does best. Being the one system that can genuinely hold a French dossier from lead to invoice. Odoo’s CRM, sales, project, field service, inventory, purchase and accounting modules run on one database, and the French localisation covers French chart of accounts and the Factur-X electronic invoice format. Because Project and Field Service share the same records, you can build a dossier board with dated stages for demande de raccordement, convention signed, travaux, Consuel visit and mise en service, and see all forty jobs on one kanban. Real pricing. Odoo publishes its list prices on its own pricing page and prices them per country. The shape is a free single-app tier with unlimited users, then Standard and Custom tiers charged per user per month with a discount for annual billing. Take the current French figure from Odoo rather than from a range on a comparison page. Implementation is separate and is usually the larger number.
Who it suits. Installers past ten employees with an operations person who can own the configuration, and anyone whose real bottleneck is dossier visibility rather than design speed.
Honest limitations. It arrives as a kit, not a solution. The Consuel and Enedis workflow described above is something you build, and a half-configured Odoo is worse than a good spreadsheet. It knows nothing about kWc, yield or tarif brackets. Version upgrades can break customisation. Budget for a French integration partner and treat the licence cost as the smaller half of the bill.
10. OpenSolar
What it does best. A free proposal and light design layer, funded by hardware referral margin, with a large template library and no licence decision to make. For a small French installer who needs a presentable customer document tomorrow, it is a reasonable starting point.
Real pricing. The core platform is free and stays free. From 16 April 2026 OpenSolar begins charging for API Access on a per-project basis and for Connectors as a flat monthly fee, but it has not published those rates and they differ by region, so ask OpenSolar for your market’s figures rather than trusting any per-seat add-on range quoted elsewhere.
Who it suits. Solo installers and small teams doing straightforward residential autoconsommation.
Honest limitations. The French regulatory layer is the thinnest on this list. Bracketed tarif d’achat handling, the prime a l’autoconsommation payment schedule and TVA treatment all need manual template work, and a template built once and never revised is how a French installer quotes last year’s tariff. Why Consuel and Enedis Make Project Tracking a Real Purchase
This is the part of the French market that imported software does not model, and it is worth being concrete about why.
A French PV job runs through a dated chain. You submit the demande de raccordement to Enedis and wait for the proposal, then the convention. You install. You submit the Consuel file and book the inspection, which produces the attestation de conformite covering the PV installation. Only then does Enedis energise the connection and the mise en service date exists. Only then does the EDF OA purchase contract start running and the customer’s final payment become due. Each of those steps is owned by a different organisation, each has its own lead time, and none of them will chase you.
Three consequences follow, and all three are software problems.
- Your cash position is a function of dossier ages, not of sales. A month with eight signings and no mises en service is a month you funded eight jobs. Only a portfolio view with dated stages shows you that before the bank does.
- A failed Consuel visit is a rework cost you can prevent with records. Labelling, DC protection, signage and the coherence between the drawing and what is actually on the roof are the recurring reasons for a reserve. Structured commissioning capture against the job, with photographs, catches most of them before the inspector does.
- Promises in the devis are promises about someone else’s queue. Dating a mise en service in a quote without visible connection lead times is how installers create disputes they cannot win.

RGE QualiPV and the ERP Layer: Two Records Problems
Both of these push a French installer toward buying administrative software rather than technical software, and both are usually discovered late.
RGE QualiPV is a records job. The qualification is what makes public support available to your customer, so losing it does not just embarrass you, it removes your product’s economics. Keeping it means producing evidence: staff training certificates, insurance attestations, financial and fiscal declarations, customer references and completed chantier files that an auditor can inspect on site during the qualification cycle. Installers who keep chantier photographs, signed intervention reports and commissioning data in a system come to audits with a folder. Installers who keep them in phones and email threads spend a fortnight reconstructing them. This is the strongest practical argument for a field operations tool in France, and it has nothing to do with efficiency.
Facturation electronique reshapes the ERP layer. The French reform requires all companies to be able to receive electronic invoices from September 2026, with issuing obligations phasing in for large firms at the same date and for small and medium firms the following year, routed through partner platforms in structured formats such as Factur-X. Practically, that means your invoicing has to live in a product that is committed to the French timetable. A US solar CRM that emits a PDF is not a plan. This one regulatory fact does more to decide a French installer’s ERP choice than any solar feature does, and it is why Sellsy, EBP and Odoo appear on a solar software ranking at all.

Monitoring and O&M: The Layer Decided by Your Inverter Choice
Monitoring is the layer nobody buys deliberately and everybody eventually needs. In France, as in Germany, the hardware has already decided most of it.
Enphase, Fronius, SMA, SolarEdge and Huawei between them cover the large majority of French installed capacity, and each ships a capable portal at no extra licence cost. For a residential fleet standardised on one brand, that is genuinely enough, and paying for a hardware-agnostic platform on top would be waste. The problem is the mixed fleet. Six years of purchasing decisions driven by price, availability and shading produce four portals, and the fleet view you need in order to spot an underperforming site simply does not exist.
Moving to a hardware-agnostic monitoring platform is a commercial decision rather than a technical one, and there are three usual triggers: a production guarantee you have to prove, a contrat de maintenance you have sold, or a service headcount you can no longer justify. Below those thresholds, stay on the free portals and put the money into tracking instead.
What to insist on when you do buy, for a French portfolio:
- Weather-normalised performance ratio, because the argument with a commercial client happens in units of performance ratio, not kilowatt-hours.
- String or module level comparison, so one underperforming string flags before a customer notices a lower bill saving.

Layer coverage is theory. This is the prescription by business type, in euros. Every one of these is two or three paid licences, never one and never six.
- Solo installer or two-person shop, up to 3 jobs a month. One SurgePV seat or OpenSolar free for design and devis, plus the inverter brand’s monitoring portal at no cost, plus a spreadsheet dossier tracker you actually update. One paid licence, roughly €0 to €1,725 a year. Do not buy an ERP yet. Below about thirty jobs a year a half-configured ERP costs you more than it saves.
- Residential installer, 10 to 20 jobs a month, two crews. SurgePV for design, simulation and devis, plus Sellsy for CRM, invoicing and e-invoicing readiness, plus the free inverter portals. Two paid licences, roughly €8,600 to €10,100 a year for five users. This is the most common French shape, and Sellsy is the one that visibly changes the month end.
