Solargraf is the tool a residential salesperson wants and an engineer complains about, and both of those reactions are correct. It was built in Montreal by Sofdesk, acquired by Enphase in January 2021, and it has spent the years since being sharpened into a very fast path from address to signed contract. In our benchmarking it scores 35 of 50, with the highest proposal-workflow score and one of the lowest engineering scores of any platform we have reviewed. It also has among the most transparent pricing of the tools on our bench, starting at $2,799 per year, and one of the more unusual pricing models. This review covers what it does genuinely well, where the Enphase relationship matters, and the specific reader who should buy it over anything else including our own sister product.
Direct answer. Solargraf is Enphase-owned residential solar proposal software priced from $2,799 to $12,999 per year on a project-quota model. It scores 35 of 50 on our bench: excellent proposals, e-signature, financing and permitting support, weak simulation depth. Best for North American residential installers selling Enphase hardware, including French-language Canadian markets. In our view it is the wrong fit where a lender specifies P90 yield methodology.

What Solargraf Is
Solargraf is a residential-first solar sales platform: design, quote, proposal, e-signature, financing options, permitting support and a light CRM in one browser tool. It is not a simulation package and does not present itself as one.
The company history matters more than usual here. Solargraf was the product of Sofdesk Inc., a Montreal software company, and Enphase Energy announced the closing of its acquisition of Sofdesk on 26 January 2021. Enphase bought it to put a digital sales layer next to its microinverter business, and that intent has shaped every release since. Solargraf has since been rolled out into further European markets, and it is in production use across the United States, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
Three things follow from the Montreal origin, and they are the reason Solargraf is disproportionately strong in Canada:
- French-language output. Quebec is a bilingual sales market and a French proposal is not a nice-to-have there, it is table stakes. Solargraf ships French output natively rather than through a bolt-on translation layer.
- Canadian utility and permitting familiarity. The product grew up handling Canadian residential paperwork rather than treating Canada as an export market.
- Metric and imperial fluency. Small, and it removes an entire class of quoting error.

Verdict. Solargraf is a sales tool that designs, not a design tool that sells. Judge it on close rate and proposal turnaround and it scores very well. Judge it on yield defensibility and it does not.
Pricing
Solargraf publishes its pricing, which puts it ahead of most of this category before a single feature is compared. The model is unusual and worth understanding, because it is sold on project quota plus seats, not on seats alone.

Two details decide whether this model is cheap or expensive for you:
- Public API access costs $4,000 per year on every plan except Enterprise, where it is included. If you intend to wire Solargraf into your own CRM or data warehouse, that line changes the comparison completely. Starter plus API is $6,799, which is above the Teams plan price.
- The project quota is the real meter. At Starter, 240 projects across 2 users is 10 projects per user per month. A door-knocking team that designs five speculative options per lead will burn quota far faster than a referral-led team that designs once per customer.

Cost per project is the number to compare, not cost per seat. Starter works out at about $11.66 per included project, Teams at about $8.89, Enterprise at about $8.67. Marginal projects cost $9 to $11 on top.
Prices above are list. Larger installers negotiate, and custom plans are offered on request, so treat the Enterprise number as an anchor rather than a ceiling.
What Solargraf Does Best
Speed from address to signed contract. This is the whole thesis and in our testing Solargraf delivers on it. A trained rep can go from address to a branded, interactive, financed, signable proposal in a single kitchen-table sitting, and the workflow we ran did not require the salesperson to understand string sizing.
Genuine French-language output for Canadian markets. In Quebec, a proposal that arrives in English costs you deals. Solargraf’s French output is native to the product rather than a translation wrapper, which is a direct consequence of the Montreal engineering team. This is the single most underrated reason Canadian installers pick it.
Financing presented inside the proposal. Loan and payment options render next to the savings numbers rather than in a separate PDF the customer never opens. For a residential close, the monthly payment line is the number that decides the sale.
Permitting support. Plan-set and permit package assistance removes a genuine bottleneck for small teams who do not employ a drafter. It is not a substitute for stamped engineering, and Solargraf does not claim it is.
Enphase hardware integration that actually works. If you sell Enphase microinverters and batteries, the equipment selection, compatibility checks and system configuration inside Solargraf were, in our testing, tighter than for the other brands we tried. This is a real benefit, and it is stated here as a benefit before it is discussed as a limitation.
Transparent pricing. Publishing a plan table with project counts and overage rates is rarer in this category than it should be, and it deserves credit.

Where Solargraf Falls Short
Engineering depth is shallow, and that is the honest headline. In our testing Solargraf’s yield numbers come from a lighter engine than a dedicated simulation package, and as of August 2026 we found no full 8,760-hour, module-level model producing P50, P75 and P90 confidence bands with soiling, spectral and thermal loss breakdowns presented in the product. For residential estimating we rate that as defensible. For a financed commercial project where a lender specifies the yield methodology, we would expect you to end up buying a second licence. The Enphase tilt is a genuine consideration, and here is the specific version. Solargraf is owned by a hardware manufacturer. That is not an accusation, it is a corporate fact worth factoring in: Enphase hardware had the deepest integration in the version we tested, and the vendor you are buying design software from also sells equipment that can appear on your bill of materials. If you are an Enphase-first shop, this alignment is a benefit and you should take it. If you sell mixed inverter brands, or if you expect to switch brands based on price, you are choosing to run your sales process inside a competitor’s product. That is a business judgement rather than a technical fault, and it should be made deliberately rather than discovered later. Weigh it the same way you would weigh any single-vendor dependency.
Commercial work is not the target. Above roughly 100 kW, the design tooling, the stringing control and the documentation output all started to feel thin on our bench. The product’s own marketing is aimed at residential rather than commercial buyers.
Limited language coverage beyond English and French. Two languages served well is better than eight served badly, but it constrains any installer expanding beyond North America and the specific European markets Enphase has launched into.
No native AI design assistant that we could find. In the version we tested, design remained a manual click-and-drag flow. That is fine, and it is also a growing gap against platforms shipping natural-language design.
Project quota can bite. If your sales motion produces many designs per closed deal, model your real design-to-close ratio before picking a tier. Overage at $9 to $11 per project is not punitive, but it is not zero.
Who Should Buy Solargraf
The reader for whom Solargraf is the right purchase, ahead of every other tool discussed on this site including ours:
You are a North American residential installer doing 200 to 700 projects a year, selling Enphase microinverters and batteries as your standard offer, closing in the customer’s home or on a video call. Your constraint is proposal turnaround and close rate, not yield defensibility. Nobody in your pipeline has ever asked you for a P90 number. You have two to six people who need software access and no in-house engineer.
If you also sell in Quebec or any bilingual Canadian market, the case strengthens sharply. Native French proposal output, Canadian permitting familiarity and a Montreal-based product team put Solargraf ahead of tools that treat Canada as an afterthought. That is a real reader with a real reason to skip SurgePV, and this review is not going to pretend otherwise.
A second reader: roofing companies adding solar. The sales-first design flow suits a team whose core skill is closing home-improvement work rather than electrical design.

Who Should Not Buy Solargraf

Multi-brand installers who want vendor neutrality. If independence from a hardware manufacturer matters to you as a matter of policy, that alone rules Solargraf out, and it is a legitimate policy.
Indian installers. Solargraf’s published marketing does not target India, and as of August 2026 we found no PM Surya Ghar subsidy workflow and no DISCOM (distribution company) net metering tariff library in the product. SurgePV’s weaknesses are named in that table deliberately. It launched in 2025 and carries far less brand recognition than an Enphase-backed product, it has no drone capture, it does not do structural stamping, and its racking database is thinner than its module and inverter libraries. On raw residential proposal polish and North American financing plumbing, Solargraf is a serious product and a fair choice.
The dividing line is honest and simple. If your projects never need a defensible yield report and you sell Enphase, Solargraf is the more focused tool. If you sell mixed hardware, work above 100 kW, or ever need a P90 number, it is worth pricing one platform that covers both jobs against two that each cover one. How Heaven Green Energy Uses This In Practice
We are an EPC before we are a software opinion. Our design team runs SurgePV daily across residential, commercial and industrial work out of Gujarat, and our sales side runs on QuickEstimate for lead routing and subsidy paperwork.
The reason we do not run a Solargraf-shaped stack is specific to India rather than a criticism of the product. Our residential proposals must carry PM Surya Ghar subsidy arithmetic and DISCOM-specific net metering tariffs, and roughly a third of our volume by capacity is commercial work above 100 kW where a lender or a corporate finance team wants the yield methodology named. A proposal-first tool without a P50/P90 engine would leave both of those unserved for us, so we would be buying two licences to do what one does.
What we do take from Solargraf’s design philosophy is the discipline of proposal turnaround. A proposal that arrives 48 hours after the site visit closes materially better than one that arrives in a week, and that is true in Ahmedabad exactly as it is in Montreal.
