What Is Balance of System (BOS)?
Balance of System refers to every component of a solar installation that is not the solar panel or the inverter. These are the supporting materials — the structural hardware, wiring, protection devices, connectors, and safety components — that allow the panels and inverter to function as a complete, safe, and code-compliant energy system.
BOS components are the most frequently underspecified part of solar installations. A contractor trying to cut costs finds it easy to use a cheaper earthing kit, untested MC4 connectors, or indoor-grade cable ties — because no customer directly compares them during a price negotiation. The consequences of inferior BOS components typically emerge 3–7 years into the system life, when they are expensive to replace and access is difficult.
Heaven Green Energy specifies and supplies only outdoor-grade, certified BOS components on every installation we complete. The same components are available for B2B supply to other installers and EPC contractors.
BOS Components We Supply
Three essential accessories that every complete solar installation requires — earthing for safety, cable ties for wire management, and MC4 connectors for DC string connections.
Earthing Kit
Complete solar earthing kit for safety grounding of the entire array
Solar earthing is not optional — it is a life-safety and equipment-protection requirement. A complete earthing kit grounds the panel frames, mounting structure, inverter chassis, and ACDB/DCDB enclosures to a common earth electrode. This provides protection against electric shock in the event of insulation failure and offers a low-impedance path for lightning-induced fault currents. Heaven Green Energy's earthing kit includes GI earth electrode, copper earth wire, lugs, and clamps — everything needed to complete a code-compliant earthing installation.
Key Features
- Complete kit — electrode, wire, clamps, lugs all included
- IS 3043 compliant for Indian electrical installation standards
- Bare copper wire for structural frame bonding
- Insulated earth wire for indoor runs to DB and inverter
- GI pipe electrode for most soil types (copper plate available)
- Essential for DISCOM inspection compliance

Cable Tie
UV-resistant cable ties for professional solar wiring management
In a solar installation, DC cables run across rooftops under direct sunlight for 25 years. Standard nylon cable ties — not UV stabilised — become brittle and snap within 1–2 years of outdoor exposure, causing cables to droop, chafe, and potentially short against metal structures. Heaven Green Energy specifies UV-resistant, outdoor-grade cable ties for all solar installations. These maintain tensile strength and flexibility across the full temperature range from winter nights to Gujarat's peak summer.
Key Features
- UV-stabilised PA66 — does not become brittle under sunlight
- Wide temperature range covers Gujarat summer extremes
- Multiple sizes for single cables, bundles, and conduit support
- Self-locking mechanism holds permanently once fastened
- Smooth edge design prevents cable insulation damage
- Black colour preferred for outdoor use — less UV degradation

MC4 Connectors
Industry-standard IP67 solar panel connectors for DC string wiring
MC4 connectors are the industry-standard connection system for solar panels worldwide. Every panel comes with MC4 leads, and the DC wiring between panels and the DCDB uses MC4-to-MC4 connections throughout. The MC4 design provides an IP67 weatherproof connection, a positive-lock mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection, and a contact design that handles the continuous DC current without corrosion or resistance build-up. Heaven Green Energy uses only genuine, certified MC4 connectors — never compatible-but-uncertified clones that can cause arcing or connection failure.
Key Features
- IP67 rated — fully sealed against dust and water ingress
- Positive-lock click prevents accidental disconnection under load
- 1500V DC rated for modern high-voltage string designs
- UV-resistant housing for outdoor rooftop use
- Tin-plated copper contacts prevent corrosion over system life
- Compatible with all standard solar panel MC4 leads

BOS Quality — The Silent Factor in System Reliability
Panels and inverters get compared. BOS components rarely do. That is why they are the most frequently compromised — and why their quality matters more than most installers will tell you.
BOS Failures Are Hidden Until They Are Costly
A panel or inverter failure is visible and immediate. A BOS failure — corroded MC4 connector, failed earth, or snapped cable tie causing chafing — often develops silently over years, causing generation loss, earth leakage alarms, or fire hazard before being discovered. Inverter warranty claims caused by poor BOS are typically rejected by the manufacturer.
Earthing Protects Both People and Equipment
A properly earthed solar system limits touch voltage to safe levels if insulation breaks down. Without proper earthing, a structural frame fault can leave the mounting structure at dangerous voltage — invisible to the eye. Earth leakage protection in the inverter relies on a low-impedance earth path to trip correctly. IS 3043 compliance is checked during DISCOM net-metering inspections.
MC4 Connector Quality Directly Affects Fire Risk
Substandard MC4 connectors with poor contact quality create resistance at the connection point. Under DC current, this resistance generates heat — and in a direct current circuit, arcing does not self-extinguish as it does in AC. Faulty MC4 connections have been identified as a cause of rooftop solar fires globally. Certified MC4 connectors with proper contact material and IP67 sealing eliminate this risk entirely.
Tidy Wiring Reduces Maintenance Cost
UV-resistant cable ties and properly supported cable runs make future maintenance, fault diagnosis, and system expansion significantly faster. Tangled, sagging, or improperly routed cables delay any service visit and increase the risk of accidental damage during panel cleaning or inspection.
