⚠️ Watch out

Homeowners on X report being told the subsidy scales with system size, so they upsize from 3 kW to 10 kW expecting proportionally more money back. It does not. The cap is ₹78,000 for any individual residential system of 3 kW or above, per MNRE 2026. Only housing society common-area systems use a different slab of ₹18,000 per kW.

Two nuances the table hides. First, the 5 kW and 10 kW rows assume your consumption is high enough to absorb the generation; if it is not, the excess exports at APPC of about ₹3.20 per kWh and payback stretches.
