Rooftop solar for factories in Dahej.
Dahej has two electricity licensees, and the first job is finding out which one bills your unit. After that, your plant is sized on daytime units, roof strength and sanctioned load. We are an authorised channel partner of Adani for modules, fit Qbits inverters, and handle design, approvals and maintenance from Surat.

The short answer
Factories in Dahej can install rooftop solar on their own sheds and cut the daytime units they buy from the grid. Units inside the Dahej SEZ are usually billed by Torrent Power under its SEZ licence; GIDC estates outside it fall in DGVCL's area. Each kW gives 4 to 4.5 units a day. There is no PM Surya Ghar subsidy for factories, but 40% accelerated depreciation applies.

Dahej: one PCPIR, an SEZ and three GIDC estates
Dahej is not one estate. It is a chemical and petrochemical region on the Gulf of Khambhat in Vagra taluka, holding a notified SEZ and GIDC estates side by side. Which part you are in changes who approves your plant.
The Gujarat PCPIR website describes the region as one of four Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions declared under the PCPIR Policy 2007. It covers 452.98 sq km near the Gulf of Khambhat. Inside it, Dahej SEZ Limited, promoted jointly by GIDC and ONGC, runs a multi-product SEZ at Dahej in Vagra taluka. Its profile gives the SEZ about 1,682 hectares, split into an eastern Part I and a western Part II.
GIDC's allotment price list for the Bharuch division names three estates here: Dahej, Dahej-II and Dahej-III. Vilayat, Saykha and the Vagra rural estate are listed alongside them. The SEZ profile says it sits on a six-lane state highway about 50 km from Bharuch, with chemical and bulk cargo handled at the Dahej port terminals.
We do not list who operates in any of these estates, and we name no company as a customer. What matters for your roof is your own load curve, the condition of your shed and the licensee that bills you. Those three facts shape everything below.
Continuous chemical and petrochemical process loads
Reactors, distillation columns, agitators and transfer pumps often run around the clock. Solar covers only daylight hours, so it trims a large flat base load rather than replacing it. The upside is simple: almost every unit the plant makes is consumed on site, with little or nothing exported.
Utilities: chillers, cooling towers and compressed air
Brine chillers, cooling-tower fans and air compressors sit behind most process plants here. Their draw rises through hot afternoons, which is exactly when a coastal rooftop array peaks. A utility block with its own roof is often the easiest first building to solar.
Warehouses, packing halls and engineering stores
Finished-goods stores and packing sheds offer large, clean roofs with light electrical loads of their own. Their output is best routed to the main plant distribution rather than used locally. We check whether your internal network lets the plant feed the main bus.
Administration, labs and control rooms
Office blocks, quality labs and control rooms carry air conditioning, lighting and IT loads through the working day. These buildings are often RCC rather than sheet metal, which makes mounting simpler. They are useful where process sheds are classified areas and cannot take an array.
Factory solar in Dahej, counted in units
Your plant is judged on how many grid units it displaces during the day. We do not print rupee savings, because your tariff category, demand charges and licensee all differ, and each of them moves the answer.
Begin with the daylight load. A clear, shadow-free roof here yields 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day across a year. That puts a 100 kW plant at about 1.46 to 1.64 lakh units annually, and 500 kW at roughly 7.3 to 8.2 lakh. In a three-shift chemical unit, the daytime draw usually swallows all of it, so the useful question becomes how much roof you can safely use.
Your connection sets the ceiling. Most Dahej units take supply at high tension, and the licensee approves a rooftop plant against your sanctioned load or contract demand. Solar lowers the units you import. It may not lower your recorded maximum demand, because a cloudy noon can still see full process load on the grid. We read twelve months of bills, including demand readings, before proposing a size.
Tax replaces subsidy. PM Surya Ghar applies only to residential consumers, so a factory relies on 40% accelerated depreciation on solar power generating systems under Appendix I of the Income Tax Rules. Since 22 Sep 2025, GST is 5% on solar equipment and 18% on the service share, taken as 30% of a supply-and-install contract, so about 8.9% overall. At 25 kW the indicative Gujarat market band is ₹10.75 lakh to ₹13.50 lakh, roughly ₹43,000 to ₹54,000 per kW. Bigger plants are priced only after a load study, since coastal-grade steel, cable distance and HT metering change the cost.
| Plant size | Units a year |
|---|---|
| 25 kW | 36,500 – 41,063 |
| 50 kW | 73,000 – 82,125 |
| 100 kW | 1,46,000 – 1,64,250 |
| 250 kW | 3,65,000 – 4,10,625 |
| 500 kW | 7,30,000 – 8,21,250 |
Indicative installed cost at 25 kW: ₹10.75–13.50 lakh (market range, not a quotation). Larger plants are priced after a load study of your bills and roof.

Engineering for a coastal chemical estate
Dahej roofs face salt air from the gulf, chemical vapours and strong coastal wind. The design has to answer all three before module count is even discussed.
Roof capacity and corrosion state
We measure purlins, rafters and sheet profile, then check existing corrosion, because salt and acid vapour attack roof steel faster here than inland. A roof with thinning sheets or rusted fixings is repaired or replaced first. Adding twenty-five years of array to a ten-year roof is a false saving.
Structure, wind and hazardous areas
Coastal sites need wind-load design for open exposure, so we size rails, clamps and anchors for it. Structures are hot-dip galvanised or aluminium with stainless fasteners. Arrays and inverters stay outside zones your hazardous-area drawings classify, and we keep fire access and walkways clear across every roof.
HT interface and licensee approval
Qbits inverters connect on the LT side behind your transformer, with isolators, surge protection, earthing and the metering your licensee requires. The single-line diagram shows that interface clearly. Torrent Power or DGVCL reviews it, and we set protection so the plant drops off whenever the grid side trips.
Approvals: who does what.
Approval runs through whichever licensee bills you: Torrent Power inside the SEZ licence area, DGVCL elsewhere. The steps are similar; the forms and offices are not.
Confirm the licensee and connection
We read the licensee name, consumer number, supply voltage and contract demand off your bill. Plots near the SEZ boundary are the ones most often confused, so we confirm this before drawing a single panel.
UsDesign file and application
We prepare the layout, single-line diagram, datasheets and protection settings, then file with Torrent Power or DGVCL. The licensee checks the plant against your sanctioned load and its network, then approves or asks for changes.
Us, then your licenseeBuild and safety documentation
We install to the approved drawings and compile insulation tests, earthing values and relay settings. Where your plant size needs Electrical Inspectorate clearance, we prepare that file and follow it to approval.
UsInspection and metering
The licensee inspects the plant and installs or certifies the meters. Once the plant is energised, its generation appears in your billing. Our engineer attends the inspection so that any query is answered on site.
Your licenseeThree ways to fund the plant.
You can buy the plant, borrow for it, or let someone else own it. The right route depends on your tax position and how your group treats capital spending.
Capex purchase
The company owns the plant and books it as a fixed asset, claiming 40% accelerated depreciation from the year it is put to use. This suits a profitable unit with taxable income to shelter. All generation is yours, and an annual maintenance contract covers cleaning, inspections and inverter checks.
Term loan or equipment finance
Banks and NBFCs fund rooftop plants for manufacturing units, and you keep the asset for depreciation. We provide the quotation, bill of materials and units estimate that credit teams ask for. The lender sets tenure and rate, so compare offers on total repayment, not the headline figure.
OPEX or RESCO model
A developer owns the plant on your roof and sells you its units under a long contract. You invest no capital and claim no depreciation. Check tenure, buy-out value, roof access rules and what happens if you expand the building, because those terms bind you for decades.
How the project runs.
Five stages, with every drawing shown to you before it reaches Torrent Power or DGVCL.
Where we work from
Heaven Green Energy has one office, at Mota Varachha in Surat, and none in Bharuch district. We serve Dahej and the wider South Gujarat region through our channel partner network and field engineering team, who run surveys, supervise installation and attend licensee inspections on site. We say this before you sign rather than after.
Bills and licensee check · Day 1
You share twelve months of bills and your plot location. We confirm the licensee, supply voltage and daytime load, and say plainly if the roof is not worth surveying.
Site and roof survey · Week 1
An engineer inspects sheds, corrosion, shading, hazardous-area limits and cable routes, and checks the HT and LT panels. Where needed we log the load for several days.
Design and written proposal · Week 2
You receive the layout, single-line diagram, itemised bill of materials and a monthly units estimate. The price follows from this design and the load study, never from a rate card.
Approval and installation · Weeks 3 to 10
We file with your licensee, procure Adani modules and Qbits inverters, and install in phases. Roof work is planned around your permit-to-work system and shutdown calendar.
Commissioning and O&M · After approval
The licensee inspects and the plant is connected. You receive test reports, warranties and monitoring access, and scheduled cleaning starts, which matters on salt-laden coastal roofs.
What businesses say after a year.
Commercial and industrial plants we have built, each tagged with the city where it stands. None is inside Dahej, and the Bharuch plant is not claimed as a Dahej site.

Six things to check with any vendor.
- Dahej holds two licensees: Torrent Power under its 2009 Dahej SEZ licence, and DGVCL across the GIDC estates and villages outside it.
- A kilowatt makes 4 to 4.5 units a day here, so 100 kW produces about 1.46 to 1.64 lakh units a year.
- Factories get no PM Surya Ghar subsidy; they claim 40% accelerated depreciation on the plant instead.
- GST on a supply-and-install contract blends to about 8.9%, with 5% on equipment and 18% on a 30% service share.
- Salt air and chemical vapour make galvanising, fasteners and roof condition the first engineering checks.
- Plants above 25 kW are priced after a load study, sized to sanctioned load and daytime use.
