Rooftop solar across Gujarat.
Gujarat is our home state. We size the system from your electricity bill, install Adani modules on a structure designed for your roof, file net metering with whichever of UGVCL, MGVCL, DGVCL, PGVCL or Torrent Power serves your meter, and claim the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy for you.

The short answer
Rooftop solar in Gujarat costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh for a 3 kW home system before subsidy, and ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. Each kW generates 4 to 4.5 units a day. Net metering is filed with UGVCL, MGVCL, DGVCL or PGVCL depending on region, or Torrent Power inside its city licence areas, under GERC rules.

Five licensees. Your bill names one.
Four state-owned companies under Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) split the state by region, and Torrent Power holds private licences inside three cities. An application filed with the wrong one is not processed, so every town guide below names the correct licensee.
North Gujarat: Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Sabarkantha and Aravalli districts, plus Ahmedabad district outside Torrent Power's city licence.
Central Gujarat: Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Mahisagar, Dahod and Chhota Udaipur districts.
South Gujarat: Surat (outside Torrent Power's part of the city), Bharuch, Narmada, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and Dang districts.
Saurashtra and Kutch: every district west of the Gulf of Khambhat, from Kutch to Gir Somnath.
A private licensee inside Ahmedabad city, Gandhinagar city and part of Surat city. Outside those licence areas, the state companies above apply.

These ranges apply across Gujarat. Installer density keeps Gujarat prices slightly below Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Your town guide adds what changes locally: roofs, climate and the licensee office.

PM Surya Ghar is for homes. Factories, shops and housing societies follow different approval and finance routes, so they have their own guides.

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.
- ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
- ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
- Nothing paid above 3 kW
- Credited directly to your bank account
- We file the entire claim for you
One central scheme, five filing offices.
The subsidy amount is identical in every Gujarat town because it is a central scheme. What changes is the licensee that checks feasibility, inspects the system and installs the bidirectional meter before the claim is released.
Businesses and farms
PM Surya Ghar covers residential connections only. Factories and shops usually claim accelerated depreciation instead; see our accelerated depreciation guide. Farmers looking at solar pumps should read PM-KUSUM and our Gujarat GEDA guide.
Solar in Gujarat, answered.
How much does rooftop solar cost in Gujarat in 2026?
A 3 kW home system costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh before subsidy, or ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. A 5 kW system costs ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh before subsidy. These are indicative market ranges, not a Heaven Green quotation.
How much subsidy can a Gujarat home get?
Up to ₹78,000 under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third. It is a central scheme, so the amount is the same in Surat, Bhuj or Dahod. It is paid into your bank account after commissioning.
Which electricity company handles my net metering?
It depends on where your meter is. UGVCL covers North Gujarat, MGVCL Central Gujarat, DGVCL South Gujarat and PGVCL Saurashtra and Kutch. Torrent Power holds the licence inside Ahmedabad city, Gandhinagar city and part of Surat city. The name printed on your bill is the one that decides.
How much power does solar generate in Gujarat?
Each installed kW produces 4 to 4.5 units a day averaged over the year, from about 5.5 peak sun hours. A 3 kW system gives roughly 360–405 units a month. The monsoon months produce less and March to May produce more.
What GST applies to a rooftop solar system?
Solar modules and complete solar power systems attract 5% GST since 22 September 2025, down from 12%. When one vendor supplies and installs the system, 30% of the contract value is treated as installation service at 18%, so the blended rate on a typical quote is about 8.9%. Ask for the goods and service lines to be shown separately.
Can a shop, factory or farm get the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for residential connections only. Commercial and industrial owners usually claim accelerated depreciation instead, and farmers looking at solar pumps should look at PM-KUSUM. A farmhouse on a residential meter can qualify like any other home.
Do you install in towns that are not listed here?
Yes. The town guides on this page cover 41 cities and towns, but we survey and install across Gujarat. Send your pin code and we will confirm coverage and the licensee for your address the same day.
