Rooftop solar for factories in Changodar.
A Changodar shed that runs machines by day can make much of that power on its own roof. We design the plant from your UGVCL bills and a roof survey, and fit modules bought as an authorised channel partner of Adani with Qbits inverters. We then file the licensee papers and look after the plant once it is running.

The short answer
Factories in Changodar buy grid power from UGVCL, whose 2019 sub-division list places a Changodar sub-division under its Bopal division. A rooftop plant there yields 4 to 4.5 units per kW each day, so 200 kW gives about 2.92 to 3.29 lakh units a year. Factories get no PM Surya Ghar subsidy; the owner claims 40% accelerated depreciation. Anything above 25 kW is priced after a load study.

Changodar: a farming village that became a factory corridor
Changodar sits on the Ahmedabad to Bavla highway in Sanand taluka, south-west of the city. Its sheds hold process plants, workshops and assembly lines, so the useful question is how much power yours draws in daylight.
Gujarati Wikipedia still describes Changodar as a village in Sanand taluka of Ahmedabad district whose people grow wheat, bajra, cotton and castor. Drive the highway and you see the other half of the story. Industrial sheds line both sides of the road towards Bavla, and the English Wikipedia article on Gujarat's pharmaceutical industry lists several drug makers with a Changodar address.
We could not find Changodar on GIDC's own list of estates. So before anything else, check how your plot is held: a private industrial park, a co-operative estate or land converted for industrial use. The answer decides who signs the roof consent and whose drawings you need. Wikipedia's list of special economic zones also records an engineering-products SEZ at Moraiya, near Changodar. A unit inside an SEZ should read the licensee name on its own bill before applying.
Outside any SEZ, your supply comes from UGVCL. Its 2019 rooftop contact sheet lists a Changodar sub-division in Bopal division, beside Bopal, Sanand-1 and Bavla Industrial. Sub-division boundaries move, so the office named on your current bill is the one we file with.
Pharma and formulation units
Air handling, chillers, purified water and clean-room pressure run around the clock in a formulation plant. Daytime solar meets only part of that load, but every unit it makes is consumed on site. The roof is often crowded with ducting and AHU plinths, so layout needs care.
Electrical and engineering workshops
Wikipedia records transformer manufacturing at Changodar, and the belt has many fabrication and machining sheds. Welding sets, compressors, CNC machines and test bays draw hard during the day shift, which lines up neatly with the solar curve on a clear Changodar morning.
Vehicle and component assembly
Wikipedia notes electric two-wheeler manufacturing opening at Changodar in 2025. Assembly lines, paint shops and charging bays run mainly by day. Large flat sheds give room for a sizeable plant, though your sanctioned load still caps what UGVCL will connect.
Storage sheds with a light load
If your building is mostly racking, lighting and a few forklifts on charge, the roof may be far larger than your demand. A plant sized to the roof would export most of what it makes. We size to your consumption instead and tell you if solar is marginal.
What a Changodar plant returns, counted in units
We count a factory plant in units it displaces, never in rupees on a web page. Your tariff category, demand charges and daytime share decide the money, and those come from your own bills.
Daytime consumption is the first number. On a shadow-free shed in the Ahmedabad plain, each kilowatt yields 4 to 4.5 units a day over a year. That makes 50 kW worth about 73,000 to 82,000 units annually, and 200 kW about 2.92 to 3.29 lakh. Compare it with what your meter logs between morning and late afternoon. A unit that runs one day shift uses almost all of it on site.
Your connection sets the upper limit. UGVCL approves a rooftop plant against the load sanctioned on your connection, so a large roof does not mean a large plant. Solar also cuts units more reliably than recorded demand, since a cloudy afternoon can still put your peak on the grid. We read a year of bills, check the demand pattern and size only after that.
Tax replaces the subsidy. PM Surya Ghar covers residential connections only. Your firm can instead claim 40% accelerated depreciation on solar power generating systems under Appendix I of the Income Tax Rules. GST has been 5% on solar goods since 22 Sep 2025, with 18% on the service share, taken as 30% of a turnkey contract, so the blend is about 8.9%. For a sense of scale, a 25 kW system falls in a Gujarat market band of ₹10.75 lakh to ₹13.50 lakh, roughly ₹43,000 to ₹54,000 per kW. Bigger plants are quoted after the load study, because structure, cable length and metering change the cost.
| Plant size | Units a year |
|---|---|
| 25 kW | 36,500 – 41,063 |
| 50 kW | 73,000 – 82,125 |
| 100 kW | 1,46,000 – 1,64,250 |
| 250 kW | 3,65,000 – 4,10,625 |
| 500 kW | 7,30,000 – 8,21,250 |
Indicative installed cost at 25 kW: ₹10.75–13.50 lakh (market range, not a quotation). Larger plants are priced after a load study of your bills and roof.

Building on a Changodar shed without harming it
Three checks come before any module order. They cover what the roof can carry, how the array stays safe in wind and fire, and how the plant meets your switchgear and UGVCL's meter.
Sheeting, purlins and added load
Many Changodar sheds were built fast, with light purlins sized only for sheeting and wind. We measure purlin section and spacing, note sheet profile, gauge and corrosion, then calculate the extra dead load. Weak bays get strengthening or a lighter rail system in the design, priced up front, before you sign.
Wind, fire paths and walkways
Clamps go into the purlins with sealed penetrations, so the roof stays dry through the monsoon. We leave walkways for cleaning, keep clear zones around turbo vents, skylights and AHU openings, and earth every row. Lightning protection follows the roof height. Pharma roofs get extra spacing around exhaust stacks.
Inverters, protection and metering
Qbits inverters sit close to your main LT panel to keep AC cable runs short. The drawings show DC and AC isolators, surge devices, earthing pits and the meter arrangement UGVCL asks for. On an HT connection the plant ties in on the LT side, behind your transformer, and we document the protection settings.
Approvals: who does what.
UGVCL must approve the plant before it is connected. We prepare the file, track it through the sub-division and stand on the roof for the inspection.
Bills, survey and drawings
We study your consumer category, sanctioned load and twelve months of bills, survey the shed, then draw the layout and single-line diagram. These drawings go to UGVCL, so they must match what will be built.
UsApplication to the sub-division
We lodge the application with your consumer number, plant rating, diagram and equipment datasheets. UGVCL checks it against your sanctioned load and the feeder, then approves or asks for changes.
Us, then UGVCLInstallation and safety papers
We build to the approved drawings, then compile insulation tests, earthing readings and protection settings. Where your plant size needs an Electrical Inspectorate clearance, we prepare that file and follow it up.
UsInspection, meters and switch-on
UGVCL inspects the installation and fits or certifies the plant meters. Once the connection is energised, generation starts showing on your bill. Our engineer attends so any query is closed on the spot.
UGVCLThree ways to fund the plant.
Three ways to fund a Changodar plant. Choose by your tax position and whether you want the asset on your own books.
Buy the plant outright
Your firm pays for the plant, holds it as a fixed asset and claims 40% accelerated depreciation in the year it is first used. This suits a profitable unit with taxable income to shelter. All the output is yours, and our AMC covers cleaning schedules, inspections and inverter checks.
Term loan or equipment finance
Banks and NBFCs lend to MSMEs for rooftop plants, and you still own the asset for depreciation. We give lenders the quotation, bill of materials and unit estimate they ask for. Rate and tenure are the lender's call, so compare offers on total cost, not the EMI alone.
Pay per unit (RESCO)
A developer owns the plant on your roof and bills you for the units it delivers. You spend no capital, and you claim no depreciation. Read the tenure, buy-out price, roof access and exit clauses closely, because they bind you for as long as the panels stay up.
How the project runs.

Where we work from
Heaven Green Energy has a single office, at Mota Varachha in Surat. We serve Changodar and the wider Central Gujarat region through our channel partner network and field engineering team. They carry out the survey, supervise the build and attend the UGVCL inspection. We tell you this before you sign, not after.
Bills and a first call · Day 1
You send a year of bills and plot details. We check the consumer category, sanctioned load and daytime use, and say frankly whether a survey is worth your time.
Shed and load survey · Week 1
An engineer measures the roof, purlins, shading and cable route, and opens up the main panel. For shift-heavy units we may log the load for several days.
Design and written offer · Week 2
You get the layout, single-line diagram, bill of materials with makes and quantities, and the yearly unit estimate. The price comes from this design, never from a rate card.
Approval and build · Weeks 3 to 8
We file with UGVCL, procure Adani modules and Qbits inverters, and install around your shifts. Roof work is staged so the shed stays sealed and production keeps running.
Inspection and handover · After approval
UGVCL inspects and the plant goes live. You receive test reports, warranties and monitoring access, and the maintenance visits in your contract begin.
What businesses say after a year.
Factory and commercial plants we have built, each labelled with the city where it stands. None is in Changodar, and we make no claim that it is.

Commercial · Ahmedabad · 25 kW
Six things to check with any vendor.
- Changodar units outside an SEZ are supplied by UGVCL. Its 2019 list shows a Changodar sub-division under Bopal division.
- A kilowatt on a clear Changodar shed makes 4 to 4.5 units a day, so 200 kW gives about 2.92 to 3.29 lakh units a year.
- No PM Surya Ghar subsidy applies to a factory. The owner claims 40% accelerated depreciation on the plant instead.
- Turnkey GST works out to about 8.9%: 5% on equipment plus 18% on the 30% service share.
- Sanctioned load and daytime use fix the plant size. Roof area only tells you the ceiling.
- Purlins and sheeting are checked at survey, and any plant above 25 kW is priced only after a load study.
