Price, size and savings Find your bill. Read across.
Most Katni solar pages will not print a price at all, or they quote a national average that means nothing locally. This table does neither. Find your monthly bill in the left column and read across for the system size that matches it. The row also shows what it generates here, the shadow-free roof it needs, and what it costs once the subsidy lands. Then take the same table to any other vendor in town and make them answer it.
These are indicative Katni market ranges for 2026 covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. They are not a Heaven Green quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.
Read the units, not the rupees. Your MPPoKVVCL bill prints both. Only the units figure tells you what a system has to cancel, because the rupee amount moves with slab rates and fixed charges that solar does not touch. Take a twelve-month view too. A house that runs coolers hard through the Katni summer and almost nothing in January will mislead you badly if you size off a single month.
The 3 kW cliff is real. The subsidy pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing. So it covers roughly 34 to 42% of a 3 kW system and only 12 to 15% of a 10 kW one. On a borderline bill, 3 kW returns more rupees per rupee spent.
A cheap Katni quote is cheap in the steel, not the panels. Galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing and surge protection are where the bottom of each band separates from the top, and they are invisible in a one-line quotation. In a town where limestone dust and cement dust settle on everything, a cheap quote also cuts cleaning access. That means no walkway, no water point, no realistic way to reach the far row. Ask every vendor for a written Bill of Materials with make, model and quantity. Without one you are not comparing prices, you are comparing adjectives.
Why there is no rupee saving in that table
There is no rupee saving column in that table, deliberately. The rupee figure depends on the slab rate you personally pay, which is printed on your own bill and differs between consumers and categories. Guessing it here would produce a number that flatters us and misleads you. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we will work the real figure out with you, in front of you.
