The short answer

Rooftop solar in Satna costs roughly ₹1,85,000 to ₹2,30,000 installed for 3 kW and ₹2,90,000 to ₹3,50,000 for 5 kW, before a PM Surya Ghar subsidy of up to ₹78,000. Each kW generates about 4 to 4.3 units a day. Net metering is sanctioned by MPPoKVVCL, the East Discom. A 5 kW system typically pays back in four to five years.

These are indicative market ranges for Satna in 2026, not a Heaven Green Energy quotation. Your figure moves with roof height, structure design, cable runs, module and inverter choice and how far the meter sits from the array. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar slabs published at pmsuryaghar.gov.in and are credited after commissioning.

The subsidy stops climbing after 3 kW. You get ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing. The cap of ₹78,000 is reached at 3 kW, and a 5 kW system claims exactly the same amount. That does not make 5 kW a bad buy. It means the fourth and fifth kilowatts have to justify themselves on export credits and on the bills you are actually running. That is why we ask for twelve months of readings before sizing.

A quote that undercuts the band above has usually cut the mounting structure. Galvanised steel of the right section, correct purlin spacing and proper foundation work are the parts you cannot see from the ground and cannot retrofit cheaply. Cheap quotes also tend to drop earthing pits, surge protection and the AC combiner.

One Satna warning: ask in writing what the vendor does about cement dust. A structure raised too low over a flat roof makes proper cleaning awkward, and in this city that costs you real units every year.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

We do not publish a rupee saving figure for Satna. Your saving depends on your tariff category, your sanctioned load, your slab, and how much of your generation you consume during daylight rather than export. A household on 300 units a month and a workshop on 3,000 units save at completely different rates. Bring your last bill to the site survey and we will work the number from your own consumption. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

PM Surya Ghar pays up to ₹78,000 into your bank account after your system is commissioned and your net meter is installed. It is a central scheme, so the slabs in Satna are identical to the slabs in Indore or Chennai. The application and the claim are both online.

1

Register on the national portal

Create a consumer account at pmsuryaghar.gov.in using your MPPoKVVCL consumer number, your registered mobile and your state. The portal maps your number to the East Discom automatically, so pick Madhya Pradesh and let it resolve. Keep the login details, because the claim stage needs them again.

2

Apply and wait for feasibility

You submit a rooftop application with your sanctioned load and proposed capacity. MPPoKVVCL checks whether your distribution transformer and your connection can carry the system. Approval has to land before any panel goes on your roof. Oversized proposals get refused here rather than later.

3

Install with a registered vendor

Only a vendor registered on the portal can claim the subsidy for you. Your installer's registration number and the module and inverter serial numbers all get logged against your application, so equipment substitution on site breaks the claim. Ask for the registration number before you pay an advance.

4

Net meter and inspection

The discom inspects the installation, then replaces your meter with a bidirectional net meter. Commissioning is certified only after that visit. Nothing in the subsidy chain moves until the certificate is issued. Book the inspection slot as soon as installation finishes.

5

Claim and credit

Your bank details and the commissioning certificate go up through the portal. The central transfer lands directly in your account. We file the paperwork and chase the file, but the money comes from the scheme, never from us. Timelines vary, so do not treat the subsidy as a discount on your invoice.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

Businesses cannot claim PM Surya Ghar. The scheme is residential only, which rules out Satna's cement units, workshops, hotels, schools and clinics. Commercial and industrial buyers use accelerated depreciation on the capital cost instead, which for a profitable company is usually worth more than the residential cap ever was.

MPPoKVVCL (MP East Discom)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Getting the licensee wrong is the common failure on Satna solar pages. Here is who supplies the city, who writes the rules, and what the sequence actually looks like.

Satna is supplied by Madhya Pradesh Poorv Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, the East Discom, with its head office at Shakti Bhawan, Rampur, Jabalpur. The district administration lists the city's electricity office at Prem Nagar, Satna, and points to mpez.co.in, which is the East Discom's domain. Satna sits in the Rewa revenue division, and the whole of that division falls inside the eastern zone.

Madhya Pradesh splits distribution three ways and the acronyms sit uncomfortably close together. Poorv Kshetra runs the east from Jabalpur. Paschim Kshetra runs the west from Indore. Madhya Kshetra runs the centre from Bhopal. Apply to the Indore or Bhopal company for a Satna roof and you have filed with a licensee that has no jurisdiction over your connection. It will not be processed, and you will lose the weeks it takes to find out.

The commercial terms are set by the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC), not by the discom and not by your installer. Under the MPERC framework your system is capped at your sanctioned load, and every consumer category may apply. Units you export are credited against units you import across the billing cycle. If you want a larger array than your sanctioned load allows, the load enhancement has to be done first.

1

Application

Consumer details, sanctioned load, proposed capacity, single line diagram and equipment datasheets go to the MPPoKVVCL division office that handles your part of Satna. Incomplete datasheets are the usual reason a file stalls at intake.

Filed by us
2

Technical feasibility

The discom checks your distribution transformer, your sanctioned load and the existing solar already connected on that feeder. Approval is what lets installation start. Feasibility is where an oversized proposal gets rejected, so sizing honestly saves weeks.

MPPoKVVCL
3

Installation and test report

We install, earth and commission the array, then submit the completion report with serial numbers, earthing records and inverter protection settings for inspection. Photographs of the earthing pits go in before they are backfilled.

Filed by us
4

Inspection and net meter

A discom engineer inspects the installation and the bidirectional meter is fitted. Export credits begin from the date on the commissioning certificate, not from the day the panels went up. Keep that certificate safe; the subsidy claim cannot be completed without it.

Not a home?

Solar for Satna's businesses.

Not a home? Satna's power costs sit on cement, limestone and the engineering shops around them, and those are the roofs where solar arithmetic is sharpest.

Satna is a cement town. Wikipedia's figure puts ten cement factories in and around the city, supplying roughly 8 to 9% of India's cement output. The limestone and dolomite that feed them are mined locally. Add Universal Cables, the M.P. Birla Group cable works, and the fabrication, crushing and transport businesses that cluster behind them. That is a heavy HT industrial load profile: high daytime demand, high sanctioned load, high tariff, and large flat or sheeted roofs that are already structurally sound.

For a registered business the case rests on two things the residential scheme cannot offer:

Why us

Why Satna customers choose Heaven Green Energy

We have been installing since 2017 and have crossed 10,000 installations. What Satna buyers tend to care about is who handles the discom file and whether the equipment is traceable.

We file with the right licenseeYour net metering application goes to MPPoKVVCL, not to the Indore or Bhopal company. That sounds obvious until you have watched a file sit in the wrong office for a month. It is the single most common filing error we correct.
Equipment you can traceAdani Solar modules as an authorised distributor, and Qbits inverters we manufacture ourselves. Serial numbers go on your commissioning paperwork, so what is on the roof matches what you bought. Nothing generic goes on a roof unlabelled.
Subsidy handled end to endPortal registration, feasibility, inspection coordination and the claim file. You supply the consumer number and bank details. We do not touch the money, which comes straight from the scheme. Every step of the claim is visible to you on the portal.
Structures built for dust and heatGalvanised structures sized for the wind zone, raised enough that cleaning is practical, and earthed properly. In a cement-belt town those decisions cost you units every year if they are wrong. We would rather over-engineer the steelwork than revisit it.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy is headquartered at Mota Varachha, Surat, and that is our only office. There is no Heaven Green branch, showroom or local number in Satna. We serve the city and the wider Vindhya region through our channel partner network and field engineering team. They run the surveys, supervise installation and handle MPPoKVVCL coordination on the ground. We say this before you sign rather than after, because plenty of vendors advertise a local presence they do not have.

How we work

From first call to a spinning net meter.

Four stages from your first call to the day your meter starts running backwards.

01

Bill review and phone sizing

Send twelve months of bills. We read your sanctioned load, tariff category and consumption pattern, and give you a size range before anyone travels to your roof. No site visit is charged for that call.

Same day
02

Site survey and proposal

An engineer measures the shadow-free area, checks the roof structure and the distance to your meter, then issues a proposal with layout, generation estimate and a firm price. The proposal is yours to compare against other vendors.

2–4 days
03

Discom and subsidy filing

We file the PM Surya Ghar application and the MPPoKVVCL net metering application together, then wait on technical feasibility. This stage is the discom's clock, not ours. We chase the file weekly and tell you where it sits.

2–5 weeks
04

Installation and commissioning

Structure, modules, inverter, earthing and protection go up, then the completion report. The discom inspects, fits the net meter and issues the commissioning certificate. Handover includes the monitoring app and your paperwork set.

2–5 days on site

What Satna weather does to a solar system

Satna is inland, dusty and hot, with a short violent monsoon and a long dry season. Three local conditions decide how much a roof here actually generates, and all three are design problems, not excuses.

Cement dust and a seven-month dry season

Roughly 88% of Satna's 1,095 mm of annual rain falls between June and September, across about 51 rainy days in the whole year. Everything else is dry. In a town ringed by cement plants and limestone haulage, that means months of soiling with no rain to wash it off. Soiling losses are the single largest recoverable loss here, and cleaning access has to be designed in.

Heat that derates the panel

Mean daily maxima reach 41.8 °C in May and 38.9 °C in April, and the record stands at 48.4 °C. Module output falls as cell temperature rises, so the hottest month is never the highest yielding month. Mounting height, row spacing and airflow under the array matter more in Satna than in a coastal town.

July and August downpours

July averages 330 mm and August 325 mm, arriving in concentrated spells. Generation drops for those weeks and the structure takes the load. Roof penetrations, sealing and wind-load calculations get done properly or they leak. Humidity swings hard too, from 20% in April to 77% in August, which is why we specify sealed DC enclosures.

Questions

Solar in Satna: every question answered.

17 questions Satna buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What does a 3 kW solar system cost in Satna?
Around ₹1,85,000 to ₹2,30,000 installed before subsidy, as an indicative 2026 market range rather than a quotation. PM Surya Ghar pays up to ₹78,000 on that size, and a 3 kW array needs roughly 300 sq ft of shadow-free roof. Larger roofs change nothing about the subsidy at this size.
How much subsidy will I actually receive in Satna?
Up to ₹78,000, the same as anywhere in India. The slabs are ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, so the cap is reached at 3 kW. Madhya Pradesh does not change the central amount. Check the credit against your bank statement, not against a vendor's word.
Is a 5 kW system worth it if the subsidy stops at 3 kW?
It depends on your bill. A 5 kW system costs roughly ₹2,90,000 to ₹3,50,000 and suits bills of ₹3,500 to ₹6,000 a month. The extra two kilowatts earn back through consumption and export credits, with payback typically four to five years. Confirm your sanctioned load allows 5 kW before you commit to it.
Can my shop or factory in Satna claim PM Surya Ghar?
No. PM Surya Ghar is residential only, so Satna's cement units, workshops, hotels and clinics are excluded. Commercial and industrial buyers claim accelerated depreciation on the capital cost instead, which for a profitable business is generally the better instrument. Your chartered accountant should price that benefit before you sign anything.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which electricity company supplies Satna?
Madhya Pradesh Poorv Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, the East Discom, head office Shakti Bhawan at Rampur in Jabalpur. The district administration lists the Satna electricity office at Prem Nagar and points to mpez.co.in. Satna falls in the Rewa division. Its consumer portal and billing both sit on that same domain.
How is MPPoKVVCL different from MPPKVVCL and MPMKVVCL?
They are three separate licensees. Poorv Kshetra covers the east from Jabalpur and supplies Satna. Paschim Kshetra covers the west from Indore. Madhya Kshetra covers the centre from Bhopal. A file sent to the wrong one is not processed. Check the licensee name printed on your own electricity bill first.
How long does MPPoKVVCL net metering take in Satna?
Budget two to five weeks from application to technical feasibility approval, then a further wait for inspection and the net meter after installation. That clock belongs to the discom. We file, track and follow up, but we cannot compress it. Filing the subsidy and net metering applications together saves a few days.
What happens to the units I export to the grid?
Under the MPERC framework your exported units are credited against the units you import over the billing cycle. Your bill settles on the net figure. Your system size is capped at your sanctioned load, so oversizing beyond that is not sanctioned. Credits do not convert into a cash payment from the discom.

Sizing & performance

How many units will one kilowatt generate in Satna?
About 4 to 4.3 units a day as an annual average, from roughly 5 peak sun hours. That means a 5 kW system produces around 590 to 650 units a month. March and April run above the average, December and the monsoon weeks below it. Shading from a single water tank can cost more than seasonal variation does.
How much roof do I need in Satna?
Roughly 200 sq ft for 2 kW, 300 sq ft for 3 kW and 500 sq ft for 5 kW, all shadow free. Water tanks, parapets, staircase rooms and neighbouring buildings all cut usable area, which is what the site survey measures. East, south and west facing roof space all count if it is unshaded.
Does cement dust reduce my generation in Satna?
Yes, and it is the biggest recoverable loss here. With around 88% of Satna's rain falling in four months, soiling builds for most of the year with nothing to wash it off. Regular cleaning and a structure with proper access recover those units. Build cleaning frequency into your service agreement rather than assuming it.
Will 48 °C summers damage the panels?
No, but they reduce output. Module efficiency falls as cell temperature rises, so May, with a mean daily maximum of 41.8 °C, is not the highest yielding month despite the sunshine. Mounting height and airflow under the array offset part of the derating. Inverters also derate in extreme heat, so ventilation at the inverter matters.

Installation & service

How long does installation take in Satna?
Two to five days on site for a typical residential system, once discom feasibility is approved. The longer part of the timeline is paperwork: application, feasibility, inspection and the net meter, which together usually run several weeks. Nothing on site starts until feasibility approval is in hand.
Do you install in villages around Satna, not just the city?
Yes. We survey across Raghurajnagar, Sohawal, Nagod, Rampur Baghelan, Majhgawan, Amarpatan and the Kothi and Ramnagar side. The same MPPoKVVCL rules apply, though the divisional office handling your file may differ. Travel time is built into the survey schedule, not charged on top. Expect a day or two more than a city roof.
Who maintains the system after commissioning?
We do, under the service agreement, and the equipment carries manufacturer warranties. In Satna the maintenance that matters is cleaning frequency and periodic checks on earthing, connectors and inverter protection settings after the monsoon. Post-monsoon is the right time for that inspection in Satna. We schedule it rather than waiting for you to ask.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green Energy have an office in Satna?
No. Our only office is at Mota Varachha, Surat. We serve Satna through channel partners and our field engineering team, who run surveys, supervise installation and handle discom coordination. Any vendor claiming a Heaven Green branch in Satna is not us. All quotations, contracts and payments run through the Surat office.
What equipment do you install?
Adani Solar modules, which we distribute as an authorised distributor, and Qbits inverters, which we manufacture in house. Make, model and serial numbers go into your contract and your commissioning paperwork so what is installed matches what you bought. Warranty documents are registered in your name at commissioning, not ours.
