Price, size and savings Find your bill. Read across.
Most Mumbai solar pages quote a national average and hide the rest behind a form. This table answers the question outright. Find your monthly bill in the left column, then read across for system size, monthly generation, shadow-free roof area and what it costs after subsidy. The bands are wide because a fourteenth-floor terrace genuinely costs more to build on than a bungalow roof in Vile Parle.
Indicative Mumbai market ranges for 2026, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. These are not a Heaven Green quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.
The 3 kW cliff decides most Mumbai orders. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing. So the subsidy wipes out roughly a third of a 3 kW system and closer to a tenth of a 10 kW one. If your bill sits on the boundary, 3 kW returns more rupees per rupee spent. Above that you are buying units, not subsidy. Size on your consumption first, then check what the subsidy does to the net figure.
A cheap Mumbai quote is cheap in the structure and the access plan, not the panels. Galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing and surge protection separate the bottom of each band from the top. On a Mumbai terrace the cost that vendors quietly delete is the one you cannot see from the ground. That means material hoisting to the eleventh floor, wind-load design, and a corrosion specification that survives salt air. Ask for a written Bill of Materials with make, model and quantity.
City-specific warning: check the sanctioned load before you agree a size. Older Mumbai flats often carry a sanctioned load of one or two kilowatts, and no licensee will approve a system larger than that load. If a vendor sells you 5 kW without mentioning a load enhancement application, your system will fail feasibility after you have paid. Load enhancement is a routine application, but it is an application, and it happens before installation rather than after.
Why there is no rupee saving in that table
You will notice there is no rupee saving in that table. Mumbai tariffs are slab-based and differ between Adani Electricity, Tata Power and BEST. So the rupee value of one solar unit is not the same for two neighbours in the same lane. Guessing it here would be dishonest. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we work the number out in front of you, slab by slab. We use the units you actually consumed over the past twelve months, not a round figure picked to make the payback look short. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our
