Price, size and savings Find your bill. Read across.
Most Thane solar pages bury the price behind a lead form or repeat a national average that ignores metro installation costs. One table answers it instead. Find your monthly bill in the left column and read across for the system size, what it generates, the roof it needs, and what it costs after subsidy. Nothing here is hidden behind a phone call.
Indicative Thane market ranges for 2026, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. These are not a Heaven Green quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.
Size against units, not rupees. Read the units figure off your last MSEDCL bill rather than the amount, because units are what an array cancels. Thane rates also step up steeply above 300 units a month, so a household sitting in the higher slabs recovers cost faster than the table's midpoint suggests. Shadow-free is the operative word in the roof column.
The 3 kW cliff is real. The subsidy pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing. It covers 31 to 39% of a 3 kW system but only 11 to 14% of a 10 kW one. On a borderline bill, 3 kW returns the most rupees per rupee spent.
Thane prices carry costs a Nashik quote does not. Material has to reach a high-rise terrace, often by hoist or crane, and a society roof needs a written society resolution, lift access windows and sometimes scaffolding over a podium. A quote far below the bands above has usually removed galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing or surge protection, not the crane. Ask for a written Bill of Materials listing make, model and quantity.
Check the generation line as hard as the price line. Thane is a coastal site with a long monsoon, so a credible proposal shows 3.8 to 4.2 units per kW per day. Quotes built on inland Maharashtra or Gujarat irradiance show 4.5 and then miss the estimate every year from June onward. That gap is not a rounding error over twenty-five years, it is a payback period.
Why there is no rupee saving in that table
You will notice the table shows no rupee saving. The rupee figure depends on the MSEDCL slab you personally sit in, which is printed on your own bill. It differs between a Naupada flat and a Wagle Estate workshop, so we will not guess it. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we work the exact number out with you. Every payback number on this page assumes you consume most of what you generate during daylight, which is why the load profile matters as much as the roof. Prefer to work it out yourself first?
