Amravati is supplied directly by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, the state utility that trades as Mahavitaran. It is the licensee for the city, for Badnera and for the tehsils around them. Maharashtra is not a single-licensee state, so this matters: Mumbai is served by BEST, Adani Electricity and Tata Power, and Bhiwandi and Malegaon run on distribution franchises. None of that applies here. If a vendor talks to you about a Mumbai procedure or a franchisee process, they are describing a different utility.
The rules themselves come from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission. MERC writes the net-metering framework and MSEDCL applies it. Two limits decide your application. Your rooftop capacity is capped at your sanctioned load, so a 3 kW sanctioned connection will not carry a 10 kW array without a load enhancement first. And every consumer category may apply: residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and agricultural connections are all eligible.
Exported units are credited in kilowatt-hours against what you import, not paid out as cash at retail rate. Your bill nets the two off over the billing cycle and carries surplus forward within the settlement year. We size arrays against consumption for exactly that reason. An oversized system in Amravati banks credits you never use.
