The short answer

A 3 kW rooftop system in Dahod costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh before subsidy. That falls to roughly ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh once the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar amount is credited. Every installed kW yields 4 to 4.5 units a day. Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL) is the utility, and town connections sit with its Dahod Town sub-division. Home payback is three and a half to five years.

These figures are indicative 2026 market ranges for a Dahod rooftop, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, a galvanised structure, protection gear and installation. They are not a Heaven Green quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures from pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shade-free roof facing roughly south. GST on rooftop solar systems has been 5% on the equipment since 22 Sep 2025. A supply-and-install contract taxes 30% of the value as installation service at 18%, so the blended rate on a typical quote is about 8.9%.

Your units, not your rupees, set the size. The amount payable on an MGVCL bill swings with slab and fuel surcharge; the units consumed figure does not. Take the average of your summer and winter bills. A Dahod house that runs coolers from March to June and almost nothing in a cold December can show a gap of two to one between the two.

Old-town roofs need a shade check before a price. In the packed lanes around Daulatganj Bazar, Hanuman Bazar and Thakkar Faliya, houses share walls. A neighbour's extra floor or a mobile tower can shade half a terrace by mid-afternoon. A survey that skips the shade study will quote you a yield the roof cannot deliver. Bungalows on Godhra Road, Jhalod Road and in the newer societies off Chakaliya Road usually have open, square terraces and fewer surprises.

The subsidy stops growing at 3 kW. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing more. On 3 kW it covers around a third of the cost; on 10 kW, closer to an eighth. If your bill sits on the edge between two sizes, the smaller one returns more per rupee you spend.

Ask for the Bill of Materials before you compare quotes. Two Dahod quotes for the same kilowatt figure can differ in galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing and surge protection. A written list with make, model and quantity is the only way to tell them apart.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

The table leaves out a rupee saving column on purpose. What a generated unit is worth to you depends on the slab rate printed on your own MGVCL bill. That rate is not the same for a residential connection in Govind Nagar as for a commercial one on M.G. Road. Bring the bill to the free survey and we calculate the saving from your slab, at your table, rather than quoting a district average. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

The Dahod solar subsidy is the same PM Surya Ghar money paid in every Indian town: up to ₹78,000 for a residential connection, credited by the central government. Gujarat adds no top-up. The only local part is that MGVCL, not some other utility, processes your file.

1

Register with your MGVCL consumer number

Registration happens on pmsuryaghar.gov.in using the consumer number on your MGVCL bill, plus your mobile number and address. We do this with you. A name or number that does not match MGVCL's records is the usual reason a Dahod application sits idle for weeks.

2

Feasibility, then pick the vendor

MGVCL checks your request against your sanctioned load and the local transformer. Once feasibility clears, you select an empanelled vendor on the portal. Heaven Green Energy is on that list, so your application links to us directly.

3

No installation before approval

Panels that go up before feasibility is granted can cost you the whole subsidy. After approval we install Adani modules with serial numbers recorded, and you get a Bill of Materials and warranty papers on the day of commissioning.

4

Inspection and the new meter

An MGVCL official inspects the system, and the bidirectional meter is fitted. The commissioning report then appears on the portal. Our engineer is present for the inspection so any query is settled on the terrace.

5

Claim and bank credit

We submit the claim as soon as the commissioning report is uploaded. The subsidy goes straight from the government to your bank account and never through an installer. If a vendor offers to receive it for you, walk away.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

PM Surya Ghar covers residential connections only. A shop in Netaji Bazar, a fabrication unit in GIDC or a school cannot claim it. Businesses instead claim accelerated depreciation on the solar asset. Farm pump connections are also outside this scheme; for those, see our PM-KUSUM guide.

MGVCL (Madhya Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

MGVCL net metering in Dahod runs through the Dahod Town sub-division for most city connections. Getting the utility and the office right is the first thing to check on any quote.

Dahod's electricity comes from Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), the GUVNL distribution company for central Gujarat, with its corporate office in Vadodara. MGVCL's contact directory places Dahod under its Godhra O&M Circle. Within that circle, the Dahod Town sub-division handles the city, while Dahod R-1 and Dahod R-2 cover the rural feeders around it. The sub-division name is printed on your bill, so you can check which one is yours before anyone files anything.

Dahod lies outside every Torrent Power licence area, and UGVCL, DGVCL and PGVCL have no role here either. A rooftop file for a Dahod address that names any utility other than MGVCL has gone to the wrong desk.

The terms themselves come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), which sets the rooftop solar and net-metering framework for every licensee in the state. Under that framework your system is limited by your sanctioned load, and residential and non-residential consumers can both apply. Exported units are offset against imported units on the bill rather than paid out as cash.

So two figures on your bill matter most: monthly units and sanctioned load in kW. If you want more capacity than the load allows, a load increase goes to MGVCL first. We check both before we quote.

1

File at the sub-division

Your consumer details, sanctioned load, proposed rating, single-line diagram and roof layout go to the Dahod Town sub-division, or to R-1 or R-2 for village feeders, with the registration fee.

2

Feasibility check

MGVCL reviews transformer and feeder capacity against your rating and issues the approval that allows installation to begin.

Solar for Dahod's businesses.

Dahod's commercial demand comes from three places: the old trading bazaars, a small engineering base around the railway, and the GIDC estates. Each roof type needs its own design.

Dahod is a railway town first. Western Railway runs a locomotive workshop here. In May 2025 the Prime Minister opened the Locomotive Manufacturing Shop at the Dahod rail workshop, where Siemens assembles 9000 HP electric freight locomotives for Indian Railways. Around that, the town has a base of small fabrication, machining and tool-room firms. Those units, and the ones in GIDC Dahod-I, GIDC Dahod-II and the planned Dahod-II (Kharedi) expansion, run motors, welding sets and compressors through the working day. That is exactly when a rooftop array produces.

The other half of the commercial base is trade. The bazaars of the old town, from Daulatganj Bazar to Netaji Bazar and Padav, are lined with wholesale and retail shops, most with living space or a terrace above. A shop with a terrace above it and a daytime AC load is a straightforward 5 kW to 10 kW job. Hospitals, nursing homes and schools in the town fit the same pattern at a larger size.

None of these connections can claim PM Surya Ghar. A business instead claims accelerated depreciation on the solar asset, which for a profitable taxpayer is often worth more than the residential subsidy. It can pair this with a zero down payment plan so the instalment sits below the bill it replaces.

  • GIDC shed roofs need a structural and wind-load check before any rating is quoted.
  • Capacity is capped at sanctioned load, so a load increase may be the first filing.
  • Bazaar terraces with shared walls need a shade study, not a standard layout.

Farms around Dahod. Dahod district is overwhelmingly rural: the 2011 Census counted only about 9% of its people in urban areas. A farmhouse on a residential connection can use PM Surya Ghar like any home. An irrigation pump on an agricultural connection cannot; it falls under PM-KUSUM, explained in our PM-KUSUM page and the Gujarat GEDA guide.

Why us

Why Dahod homeowners choose Heaven Green Energy

We have installed solar since 2017 and passed 10,000 installations across Gujarat. Years in business mean little on their own, so here is what that experience changes for a Dahod customer.

MGVCL filing handled end to endApplication, feasibility, test report, inspection and meter follow-up stay with us. You are not left learning the Dahod Town sub-division's document routine yourself.

How Dahod's climate shapes a solar system

Dahod has hot dry springs, a monsoon that drops most of its year's rain in July and August, and winters colder than most of Gujarat. Generation is strong for eight months. The design work is about heat, monsoon water and the dust that settles in between.

April to June heat

IMD normals put Dahod's average May high at about 39°C, and the station has recorded 47°C in June. Panels lose output as cells heat up, so the structure needs clear airspace under the modules rather than sitting flat on the slab. The inverter goes in a shaded, ventilated spot, never on a west wall that bakes all afternoon.

A monsoon packed into two months

Dahod averages about 755 mm of rain a year, and July and August each bring around 235 mm, much of it in heavy bursts. Cable entries must be sealed and gasketed, junction boxes kept off the slab, and the structure anchored so water can drain freely under it. Earthing gets tested after the first heavy week, not assumed.

Dry-season dust

From October to May the air is dry, with spring humidity near 22% in the IMD tables, so dust from roads, highway traffic and harvested fields settles on glass steadily. Soiling is the largest loss you can actually control. We set a cleaning interval by where your roof is: a terrace on the Indore highway side gets more than one in a quiet society lane.

Six things to check on any Dahod quote.

Questions

Solar in Dahod: every question answered.

17 questions Dahod buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What is the solar panel price in Dahod for a home in 2026?
A 3 kW system costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh before subsidy and ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar credit. A 5 kW system runs ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh before subsidy. These are indicative market ranges, not a quote.
How much Dahod solar subsidy will I receive?
Up to ₹78,000 on a residential connection. The scheme pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then stops. The amount is set centrally, so a home in Dahod gets the same as one in Vadodara or Delhi.
Can a shop in Daulatganj Bazar or a GIDC unit get the subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for residential connections only. A shop, a workshop in GIDC Dahod-I or Dahod-II, a school or a hospital claims accelerated depreciation on the solar asset instead. For a profitable business that often adds up to more.
Is zero down payment solar available in Dahod?
Yes, through finance rather than a discount. The monthly instalment is set close to or below the bill the system removes, so cash flow stays neutral from the start. It suits both homes and commercial roofs. Bring a bill and we will show both cash flows side by side.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which company handles MGVCL net metering in Dahod?
Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited, MGVCL. Its contact directory places Dahod under the Godhra O&M Circle, with the Dahod Town sub-division covering the city and Dahod R-1 and R-2 covering nearby villages. Torrent Power does not operate in Dahod.
How does net metering show up on my MGVCL bill?
A bidirectional meter records units you import and units you export. Exports are set off against imports in the billing cycle, so you pay only for the net. GERC, the state regulator, sets these terms, not MGVCL and not your installer.
My house is in a village near Dahod. Does the same process apply?
Yes, if it is a residential connection. Your bill names the sub-division; for villages such as Rabdal, Jekot or Muvalia it is likely to be Dahod R-1 or R-2 rather than Dahod Town. An agricultural pump connection is a separate category and falls under PM-KUSUM instead.
How long does MGVCL take to approve rooftop solar in Dahod?
Usually two to five weeks from application to feasibility, then the inspection and meter change after installation. The variable is the sub-division's workload. We file the papers, follow them up and tell you where the file is waiting.

Sizing & performance

How much power will solar generate on a Dahod roof?
About 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day, from roughly 5.5 peak sun hours. That means 360 to 405 units a month from 3 kW and 600 to 675 units from 5 kW. July and August output dips under monsoon cloud and recovers from September.
What system size suits my Dahod electricity bill?
As a guide: 2 kW for bills up to ₹1,800 a month, and 3 kW for ₹2,000 to ₹3,500. Bills of ₹3,500 to ₹6,000 suit 5 kW, and ₹6,000 to ₹13,000 suits 10 kW. Above that you are into 25 kW and commercial sizing. Work from units, averaging summer and winter.
Will an old-town terrace near Hanuman Bazar work for solar?
Often yes, after a shade check. Terraces in the old bazaar lanes are close-packed, and a taller neighbour, water tank or tower can shade part of the array each afternoon. You need about 300 sq ft of shade-free roof for 3 kW.
Does Dahod's dust reduce solar output?
Yes. The dry season runs from October to May, and dust from roads, the Indore highway and harvested fields builds up on the glass. Soiling is the biggest loss you can control. A cleaning interval set by your roof's location keeps generation near the estimate.

Installation & service

How long does installation take in Dahod?
Two to four days on site for a home system once MGVCL approves. From first call to generation usually takes four to eight weeks, and nearly all of that is approval time rather than work on your roof.
Will the system cope with Dahod's July and August rain?
It will if it is built for it. Dahod averages about 755 mm of rain a year, most of it in July and August. Ask for sealed cable entries, raised junction boxes, galvanised structure with stated coating thickness and earthing tested after the first heavy week.
Who fixes a fault after the system is running?
Our field team. Panels are Adani, installed under our channel partnership, and inverters are Qbits, the group's own brand. Serial numbers are on your Bill of Materials, so a warranty claim traces straight back to the part and the maker.
