Central subsidy
Up to ₹78,000
PM Surya Ghar, for residential connections only. The slab is fixed nationally.
Typical payback
4–5 years on a 5 kW home system
3.5–4.5 years for 2 kW and 3 kW homes that use most of their daytime output.

The short answer

A rooftop solar system in Modasa costs roughly ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,25,000 for 3 kW and ₹2,85,000 to ₹3,45,000 for 5 kW before subsidy. PM Surya Ghar refunds up to ₹78,000 to a home owner. Expect 4 to 4.5 units per kW a day. UGVCL is the licensee, with its Modasa Division office on Shamlaji Road. A 5 kW home system pays back in 4–5 years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Start with your bill, not with a panel count. Locate your usual monthly UGVCL amount in the table, then follow that row. It gives the system size the bill supports and the installed market range before subsidy. It also gives the units an Aravalli roof should produce each month. The payback period assumes the household or business uses most of its own daytime power.

These figures are indicative 2026 market ranges for Modasa and Aravalli district. They are not a Heaven Green Energy quotation. The final number depends on roof type, how high the structure must sit, cable length to the meter, the chosen module and inverter, and any civil repair the slab needs. Subsidy figures are the central PM Surya Ghar slabs from pmsuryaghar.gov.in and apply to residential consumers alone.

Your subsidy is complete at 3 kW. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, so the total stops at ₹78,000. Everything above 3 kW is your own money. Go to 5 kW or 10 kW only if your units justify it. Treat any salesman who pushes a bigger size for the sake of the subsidy as someone who has not read the slab.

A price far below the band usually means a cheaper structure. Look for thin galvanising, a frame that sits almost on the slab, and anchors that are just bolted plates resting on bricks. Aravalli roofs face fierce May heat, a real monsoon and gusty pre-monsoon storms, so a cut-price frame tends to rust or loosen within a few seasons.

Ask about the slab too. Older houses in the town centre often carry patched waterproofing layers, and drilling anchors through them without resealing invites a monsoon leak into the room below. A proper quote names the resealing method.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

You will not find a promised rupee saving on this page. What you save depends on your UGVCL tariff category, sanctioned load, fixed charges and how much of the solar output you use in daylight rather than export. A clinic running air conditioning from nine to six saves differently from a house that is locked during the day. Bring two recent bills to the survey and we work the figure from your own meter readings, not from a brochure. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

PM Surya Ghar refunds up to ₹78,000 to a residential UGVCL consumer whose rooftop system is installed by a registered vendor and commissioned under net metering. It reaches your bank account after commissioning. It never appears as a discount on the bill of sale.

1

Create the portal account

Sign up at pmsuryaghar.gov.in with the consumer number printed on your UGVCL bill. Type your name and address exactly as the bill shows them, because the portal checks them against UGVCL's own record and a mismatch stalls the file.

2

Request technical feasibility

The application states the capacity you want. UGVCL checks it against your sanctioned load and the spare capacity on the local transformer. In Modasa town this tends to clear in about two weeks; a heavily loaded village transformer can take longer.

3

Install through a listed vendor

The subsidy is paid only for work by a vendor registered on the portal. We upload the module and inverter details, the installation photographs and the commissioning data against your reference number, so the file advances without visits from you.

4

Meter and inspection

UGVCL fits a bidirectional meter and the installation is inspected. When both are complete, the commissioning certificate appears on the portal. The subsidy process cannot move a step further until that certificate exists.

5

Bank account and payment

Add your bank account and upload a cancelled cheque. The ministry then pays you directly. Claims we file in Gujarat generally settle within 30 to 45 days after the commissioning certificate is issued.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

PM Surya Ghar does not cover hospitals, shops, colleges, GIDC units or agricultural pump connections. A business owner instead claims accelerated depreciation on the system, which can beat the residential subsidy for a profitable clinic or firm. Let your chartered accountant compare the two against your accounts. Farmers looking at solar pumps should read about PM-KUSUM rather than PM Surya Ghar.

UGVCL (Uttar Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Net metering is the step that converts your noon surplus into a smaller bill. Skip it and the extra units still leave your roof, but UGVCL credits you nothing.

Modasa is UGVCL territory. Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited, one of the four state distribution companies under GUVNL, supplies the town and every taluka of Aravalli district. Locally the work runs through the UGVCL Modasa Division, whose office the Aravalli district administration lists near Meghraj-Malpur Charrasta on Shamlaji Road, Modasa 383315. The division sits under UGVCL's Himatnagar circle, and your own connection is held by one of its sub-division offices.

Geography trips up quotation writers here. Lunawada, Santrampur and the rest of Mahisagar district lie just south-east and belong to MGVCL. A Modasa proposal that names MGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL or Torrent Power has been copied from somewhere else, and an application filed on it will land with the wrong company. Modasa is not inside any Torrent Power licence area.

The rules come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. Your solar capacity may not exceed your sanctioned load, residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers can all apply, and units exported are set against units imported in the billing cycle. How any leftover credit is settled follows the GERC order in force on your commissioning date.

1

Online application

We lodge the request with your consumer number, sanctioned load and proposed capacity. We then follow it with the sub-division under the Modasa Division that holds your connection, rather than sending emails to a general address in Mehsana.

2

Test report after installation

Once the system is up, we submit the test report listing module and inverter serial numbers, earthing values and the wiring diagram. Errors in this report are the usual reason a meter date slips.

3

Bidirectional meter and inspection

UGVCL staff install and seal the new meter, and the inspection is carried out. Our engineer is present for both, so a query about the isolator or the earth pit is settled on the spot.

Not a home?

Solar for Modasa's businesses.

Modasa's biggest daytime electricity users are its hospitals, colleges, market traders and GIDC units. Nearly all of that load falls between morning and sunset, which is exactly when a rooftop array produces.

Modasa is the medical town of Aravalli. Wikipedia describes it as the nucleus of doctors for northern Gujarat and for patients crossing from southern Rajasthan. OpenStreetMap shows dozens of private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic clinics packed into the town. These buildings run air conditioning, operation theatre lighting, sterilisers and imaging equipment through the day. That is a near-perfect match for solar, and a hospital roof also gains by reducing how long the diesel generator runs on bad supply days.

Education is the second daytime load. The Government Engineering College, the ITI and the pharmacy, law and management colleges that have come up in Modasa all draw power during teaching hours and close in the evening. The Modasa APMC market yard and its Tintoi sub-yard trade maize and groundnut, so traders' godowns and grading sheds carry daylight loads too. On the industrial side, GIDC lists two estates, Modasa and Modasa-II, with the industries association based at Ganeshpur.

None of these consumers qualify for PM Surya Ghar. The business case rests on tax and self-consumption instead: read accelerated depreciation on solar for the write-off, and zero down payment solar if you want to keep working capital free. Farmers with pump connections should look at PM-KUSUM and our Gujarat KUSUM and GEDA guide.

  • Private hospitals, nursing homes and pathology labs across the town centre
  • Engineering, pharmacy and other college campuses, plus coaching and school buildings
  • APMC Modasa market yard and the Tintoi sub-yard: traders, godowns, grading sheds
  • GIDC Modasa and Modasa-II at Ganeshpur: workshops and small manufacturing
  • Shops, showrooms and banquet halls on the state highways through town
Why us

Why Modasa households and businesses pick Heaven Green Energy

We started installing in 2017 and have passed 10,000 installations across Gujarat. That scale keeps our UGVCL paperwork familiar, our material prices steady, and our warranty support attached to a company that will still answer the phone in year ten.

Filed with the right UGVCL officeYour file goes to the sub-division under the Modasa Division that holds your connection. Applications sent to the wrong licensee, or to the right licensee at the wrong desk, cause most avoidable delays on Gujarat rooftop files.
Adani panels, Qbits invertersHeaven Green is an authorised channel partner of Adani for solar modules and installs only Adani panels. The inverters are Qbits, our group's own brand, so a warranty claim comes straight back to us.
The subsidy file is ours to chaseRegistration, feasibility, the commissioning upload and the bank details are all done by our team. Most Gujarat claims we lodge are paid within 30 to 45 days of commissioning.
The quoted price holdsWe survey shading, slab condition and the cable route before pricing. If the number climbs after you sign, a proper survey was not done, and that is not how we work.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy has a single office, at Mota Varachha in Surat. There is no Modasa branch, shop or local phone number, and we say so before you sign rather than after. We serve Modasa and the rest of Aravalli and North Gujarat through our channel partner network and field engineering team. They carry out the roof survey, supervise the installation and handle UGVCL on the ground.

How we work

From first call to a spinning net meter.

Four stages take you from the first phone call to a UGVCL bill that shows net units instead of a full import figure.

01

Bill check and first sizing

Send photos of two recent UGVCL bills. We read the units, not the rupee total, and call back with a provisional size and a price range before anyone travels to Modasa.

Same day
02

Roof survey and written proposal

A field engineer measures shade-free area, checks the slab and waterproofing, and plans the cable path to the meter. The written proposal gives expected units, the frame specification and the subsidy calculation.

2–4 days
03

Fitting and commissioning

Frame, panels, inverter, earthing, surge protection and the monitoring app are installed. Each stage is photographed, because both the portal and UGVCL ask for proof rather than promises.

2–4 days on site
04

Net meter and subsidy credit

UGVCL fits the bidirectional meter, inspection is completed, the commissioning certificate is issued and the subsidy is paid into your account.

3–7 weeks

How Modasa's weather treats a rooftop array

Modasa sits about 197 metres above sea level at the edge of the Aravalli hills. Long-run averages put May daytime highs around 42°C and January nights near 14°C, with roughly 750 mm of rain a year, most of it in July and August. That gives you a strong dry-season yield and a wetter monsoon than the plains around Mehsana, and the system design has to account for three things.

May heat costs output

Module efficiency falls as cell temperature rises, and on a 42°C afternoon the panel surface is far hotter than the air. We raise the frame so air moves under the modules instead of mounting them flat on the slab. The inverter goes on a shaded wall or under a canopy, because one fixed on a sun-facing surface in May will cut its own output just as the array peaks.

Dry-season dust from fields and roads

From October to May almost no rain falls to rinse the glass. Dust from harvested maize and groundnut fields, from unpaved village roads and from construction across the growing district town settles on every roof. Wash the panels with plain water every three to four weeks in the dry months, and more often if you live beside a highway or a building site.

A proper monsoon and pre-monsoon gusts

Aravalli gets heavier rain than the drier northern talukas of Gujarat, so expect a visible dip in July and August generation. Plan the earthing and cable glands for standing water. The bigger mechanical risk is the squall line that arrives before the rains. Anchor the frame into the slab with chemical or mechanical fasteners; concrete blocks on their own are not enough for a Modasa roof.

Questions

Solar in Modasa: every question answered.

17 questions Modasa buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What does a solar panel system cost in Modasa in 2026?
Indicative installed ranges before subsidy are ₹1,25,000 to ₹1,55,000 for 2 kW and ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,25,000 for 3 kW. For 5 kW the range is ₹2,85,000 to ₹3,45,000, and for 10 kW it is ₹5,20,000 to ₹6,30,000. Roof height, cable length and slab repairs move your own figure within or beyond that band.
How much is the Modasa solar subsidy under PM Surya Ghar?
A residential UGVCL consumer in Modasa can receive up to ₹78,000: ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third. It is a central scheme, so the amount in Aravalli is exactly what a home owner in Surat or Delhi receives.
Can a hospital or nursing home in Modasa claim the subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is limited to residential connections, so hospitals, clinics and labs on a commercial tariff are outside it. Their route is accelerated depreciation and lower daytime bills. With air conditioning and equipment running all day, a hospital usually consumes nearly everything its roof generates.
Is the subsidy taken off my bill from the installer?
No. You pay the full installed amount, and the ministry transfers the subsidy to your bank account once the commissioning certificate exists on the portal. Claims we file in Gujarat usually settle within 30 to 45 days of commissioning. A vendor offering it as an upfront discount is really offering their own credit.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which UGVCL office handles net metering for Modasa?
The UGVCL Modasa Division, located near Meghraj-Malpur Charrasta on Shamlaji Road, Modasa 383315, under the Himatnagar circle. Your file is processed by the sub-division under that division which holds your connection. We submit the application and attend the meter and inspection visits for you.
Is Modasa served by MGVCL because it is close to Lunawada?
No. Lunawada and the rest of Mahisagar district are MGVCL, but Modasa and all of Aravalli district are supplied by UGVCL. If a quotation for a Modasa roof names MGVCL, the vendor has reused paperwork from another district.
How long does UGVCL net metering take in Modasa?
Allow three to seven weeks from installation to a working bidirectional meter. Feasibility in the town normally returns within a fortnight. Most delays come from a test report with wrong serial numbers or a sanctioned load lower than the solar capacity, both of which we check before filing.
What happens to units I export during Diwali holidays when the house is shut?
Under net metering, the units your roof exports while you are away are set against the units you import in that billing cycle. Any balance left over is settled under the GERC order in force when your system was commissioned. We explain the current treatment in writing at the survey.

Sizing & performance

What size system suits a typical Modasa bungalow?
Look at units, not rupees. A home using about 360 to 400 units a month fits 3 kW, while one running two air conditioners through April to June often needs 5 kW. The bill-band column in the price table above gives you a quick starting point before the survey.
How much power will a solar system produce in Modasa?
Plan on 4 to 4.5 units per kW per day as a yearly average, which is 360–405 units a month from 3 kW and 600–675 from 5 kW. Output peaks from March to May and falls in July and August when Aravalli's monsoon cloud sits over the town.
Can I put solar on my farmhouse near Tintoi or Sardoi?
Yes, if the farmhouse has its own residential UGVCL connection; then PM Surya Ghar applies like any home. Gujarat runs agricultural pumps on separate feeders, so a pump connection is a different case. For pumps, see our PM-KUSUM page and the Gujarat KUSUM guide.
Do panels in Modasa need more cleaning than in Surat?
In the dry season, yes. From October to May there is almost no rain, and dust from harvested fields and village roads settles steadily. A plain-water wash every three to four weeks keeps losses small. During the July and August rains the monsoon does much of the cleaning.

Installation & service

Will drilling anchors damage the waterproofing on my old Modasa house?
It can if done carelessly. Older town-centre houses often have several waterproofing layers on the slab. We seal every anchor point with a compatible sealant and, where the coating is already weak, tell you before installation so the repair can be done first.
How long is installation on a Modasa rooftop?
Most homes take two to four days on site, covering the frame, panels, inverter, earthing and monitoring. The UGVCL meter and inspection come later, and the full route from signature to a running net meter is usually three to seven weeks.
Who services the system after it is installed in Aravalli?
Our field engineering team and channel partners cover Aravalli district. The inverter is a Qbits unit, our group's own brand, so faults come back to us directly. Watch the monitoring app; a sudden drop on a clear day is the signal to call.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green have an office in Modasa?
No. Our only office is at Mota Varachha in Surat. Surveys, installation supervision and UGVCL coordination in Modasa are done by our field engineering team and channel partner network, and we state this plainly before you sign anything.
Which panels and inverters do you fit in Modasa?
Heaven Green is an authorised channel partner of Adani and installs only Adani solar panels. Inverters are Qbits, the group's own brand. Using one module supplier and our own inverter keeps warranty claims short and traceable.
