The short answer

A 3 kW rooftop system in Lunawada costs roughly ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh before subsidy. That drops to about ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh once the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar amount is credited. Every installed kW yields 4 to 4.5 units a day under Mahisagar sun. Net metering here is handled by Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), and homes usually recover their outlay in three and a half to five years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Start with the number on your bill, not with a system size. Find your monthly bill band in the table, then read across to the size it suits and what that size produces in a Lunawada year. The same row shows how much shadow-free roof it needs and what it costs before and after the central subsidy.

Indicative 2026 market ranges for Lunawada and Mahisagar district, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised mounting, protection gear and installation. They are not a Heaven Green quotation, which is only issued after a site survey. Subsidy figures are the central PM Surya Ghar amounts published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Output assumes a roof with no shade and a broadly southern aspect.

Your MGVCL bill tells us two things before we visit. The units consumed set the size, and the sanctioned load in kW sets the ceiling. A Lunawada house whose bill swings between winter and May should be sized on a twelve-month unit total. A single summer bill oversizes the array, and a single January bill undersizes it.

The subsidy rewards 3 kW most. The scheme pays ₹30,000 a kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then stops. On a 3 kW system that is close to a third of the price. On a 10 kW system it is nearer an eighth. If your bill sits on the line between two sizes, 3 kW usually returns more per rupee you put in.

Old-town roofs and society roofs need different structures. Houses inside the old walled core around Mandvi Bazar and Vohrawad often share walls and sit close to taller neighbours. There, a water tank or a staircase head can throw shade across half the slab by mid-afternoon. Newer bungalows along SH 5 and Vardhari Road usually have clear, open terraces. We check shade by the hour on the survey and design the elevation of the structure around it, rather than fitting the same frame to both.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

The table leaves out a rupee saving figure on purpose. What a generated unit is worth to you depends on the tariff slab printed on your own MGVCL bill. That slab is not the same for a house in Moti Charel, a medical store on Station Road and a farm connection in Kakachiya. Bring a recent bill to the free survey and we will work out the saving on your slab, in front of you, instead of quoting a district average. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

Lunawada homes get the same central subsidy as every other Indian household, and nothing extra. PM Surya Ghar is run by the Union government, so neither Mahisagar district nor the state adds a separate top-up. The local part is the utility that processes the file, which for Lunawada is MGVCL.

1

Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in

Registration needs your MGVCL consumer number, a mobile number, Aadhaar and the installation address. We sit beside you while you do it. A name or consumer number that does not match MGVCL's own record is the usual reason a Lunawada file comes back.

2

Feasibility, then vendor selection

MGVCL checks the request against your sanctioned load and the local transformer, then confirms feasibility. You choose an empanelled vendor on the portal. Heaven Green is on that list, so the application links to us directly.

3

Install after approval, never before

A system put up before feasibility is granted can lose its subsidy outright. Once the approval arrives we supply Adani modules with recorded serial numbers and hand over a written Bill of Materials and warranty papers at commissioning.

4

Inspection and a new meter

An MGVCL engineer from your sub-division inspects the system and a bidirectional meter replaces the old one. That generates the commissioning record on the portal. Our engineer stays for the inspection to answer any technical query on site.

5

Claim and bank credit

We lodge the subsidy claim as soon as the commissioning record appears. The money is paid by the government straight into your bank account and never routes through an installer. A vendor who asks to receive it for you is a reason to walk away.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

PM Surya Ghar covers residential connections only. A hospital on the Modasa–Godhra highway, a school, a shop or an oil-processing unit cannot use it. Those businesses claim accelerated depreciation on the solar asset, which a profitable taxpayer often values above the household subsidy. Farm pump connections are a separate route under PM-KUSUM.

MGVCL (Madhya Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Lunawada net metering goes through MGVCL, and the office that clears your file is a sub-division in the town itself. Get that detail right first, because a quote written for the wrong utility costs weeks.

Lunawada is supplied by Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), the GUVNL distribution company for central Gujarat, with its corporate office in Vadodara. MGVCL's own contact directory places Lunawada in the Godhra O&M Circle and lists two town sub-divisions, Lunawada 1 and Lunawada 2. A separate Kothamba sub-division serves the Kothamba side of the taluka, and Santrampur, Kadana, Virpur, Bakor and Balasinor each have their own. The Mahisagar district administration lists the MGVCL division office at Jesingpura on Godhra Road. Your bill names the sub-division that holds your connection.

No part of Lunawada falls in a Torrent Power licence area, and UGVCL, DGVCL and PGVCL do not serve the town. Mahisagar was carved out of Panchmahal and Kheda in 2013, but supply stayed with MGVCL throughout. Older paperwork that says Panchmahal is not a sign of a different utility.

The commercial rules come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), not from MGVCL or any installer. Under GERC's rooftop framework, system size is capped against your sanctioned load and every consumer category can apply. Exported units are set off against imported units on your bill rather than paid out as cash. If you want more kilowatts than your load allows, the load-extension request goes in before the solar application.

1

File with your sub-division

Consumer details, sanctioned load, proposed rating, single-line diagram and roof layout go to the Lunawada 1, Lunawada 2 or Kothamba sub-division, whichever is on your bill, with the registration fee.

2

Feasibility check

MGVCL engineers check the distribution transformer and feeder against your rating. Their feasibility approval is what makes installation legal and subsidy-eligible.

Solar for Lunawada's businesses.

Lunawada's commercial demand is not heavy industry. As the Mahisagar district headquarters it has gathered hospitals, schools, offices and traders, and their daytime loads suit solar closely.

Walk the Modasa–Godhra highway (SH 5) between Char Koshiya Naka, Moti Charel and the bus stand. On that one stretch you pass more than twenty private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics, from children's and maternity hospitals to orthopaedic and eye centres. They run air conditioning, operating theatres, sterilisers and lab equipment through the day, which is exactly when a rooftop generates. Add the schools on Vardhari Road and Santrampur Road and the shops of Mandvi Bazar and Station Road. Then there are the edible-oil and food-processing units that the district administration names as local employers, and the non-residential case is clear.

None of these can claim PM Surya Ghar. A business instead claims accelerated depreciation on the solar asset. It can pair this with a zero down payment structure, so the instalment sits below the bill the array removes.

For farms around Lunawada. The taluka is farming and dairy country, with Mahi and Panam irrigation and hundreds of village milk societies across the district. Gujarat's Jyotigram scheme separated farm feeders from village feeders, so a well pump and a farmhouse often sit on different supply. Pumps belong under PM-KUSUM; our Gujarat KUSUM guide explains the route. A residential farmhouse connection can still use PM Surya Ghar.

  • Hospital roofs often carry chillers and tanks, so the usable area is measured, not assumed.
  • Sizing is capped by sanctioned load, so a load extension may come first.
  • Processing units with flour or oil dust nearby need a cleaning clause in the AMC.
Why us

Why Lunawada homes and clinics choose Heaven Green Energy

We have installed solar since 2017 and passed 10,000 installations across Gujarat. Numbers alone prove little, so here is what that experience does for a Lunawada customer in practice.

The MGVCL file stays with usApplication, feasibility, documents, inspection attendance and meter follow-up sit with our team. You do not have to learn how the Lunawada sub-division likes its papers prepared.
Adani panels, Qbits invertersWe are an authorised channel partner of Adani and fit only Adani modules. Inverters are Qbits, made by our group. Both carry serial numbers recorded on your paperwork.
A Bill of Materials before you payEvery component is listed with make, model and quantity. It is the only document that lets you compare two quotes line by line instead of comparing two totals.
Free survey, no advanceAn engineer measures the roof, maps shade through the day and reads your bill before any price is fixed. Nothing is charged to begin.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy is headquartered at Mota Varachha, Surat, and that is our only office. We serve Lunawada and the wider Central Gujarat region through our channel partner network and field engineering team. They carry out surveys, supervise installation and handle MGVCL coordination on the ground. There is no Heaven Green branch, address or local phone number in Lunawada or anywhere in Mahisagar, and we would rather you heard that from us before signing.

How we work

How Lunawada's climate shapes the system

Lunawada sits inland on the eastern edge of central Gujarat, near the meeting of the Mahi and Panam rivers. It gets long dry months with strong sun, a hot pre-monsoon peak, and a monsoon heavier than Saurashtra's. Each of those shapes a different part of the design.

Dry-season dust on open roofs

From October to early June there is little rain to rinse the glass, and dust from fields, unpaved lanes and highway traffic settles steadily. Roofs facing the SH 5 stretch or near open farmland collect it fastest. Soiling is the biggest loss you can control here, so we set a cleaning interval by roof location and leave a safe walkway to reach every row.

A hot May before the rains

Long-run averages put Lunawada's May daytime highs around 41°C, with very little rain that month. Hot cells produce less, so the array needs airflow beneath it rather than sitting close to the slab. The inverter goes on a shaded, ventilated wall, away from a west-facing parapet that bakes all afternoon.

A full monsoon from late June

Most of the year's rain falls between late June and September, with July and August the wettest months, and storm gusts arrive with the first showers. That calls for hot-dip galvanised structure anchored for wind, sealed cable glands, drip loops at every entry and earthing pits tested with a meter, not assumed.

Service area

Areas of Lunawada we install in.

We cover Lunawada town, the SH 5 and Vardhari Road societies, and villages across the taluka on the 389230, 389220 and 389235 pin codes. India Post still lists these offices under Panch Mahals district, a leftover from before Mahisagar was formed. If your area is not named, send your pin code and we will confirm coverage the same day.

Questions

Solar in Lunawada: every question answered.

17 questions Lunawada buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What does a rooftop solar system cost in Lunawada in 2026?
A 3 kW system runs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh before subsidy, or ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 central amount. A 5 kW system runs ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh before subsidy. These are indicative Mahisagar market ranges, not a quotation.
How much is the Lunawada solar subsidy?
Up to ₹78,000 per home. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, with nothing more above 3 kW. The scheme is central, so a Lunawada house receives the same amount as one in Vadodara or Delhi.
Can a private hospital on the Modasa–Godhra highway get the subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for residential connections only, so a hospital, clinic or nursing home on the SH 5 stretch cannot claim it. It can claim accelerated depreciation on the solar asset instead, which for a profitable practice often outweighs the household subsidy.
Is zero down payment possible for solar in Lunawada?
Yes, through finance rather than a price cut. The instalment is arranged to sit at or below the bill the system removes. Homes and businesses can both use it. Bring your MGVCL bill and we will set the two monthly figures side by side.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which office handles MGVCL net metering for my Lunawada house?
Your MGVCL sub-division, which is printed on your bill. Lunawada town is split between the Lunawada 1 and Lunawada 2 sub-divisions, and the Kothamba sub-division covers that side of the taluka. All three sit under MGVCL's Godhra O&M Circle. We file the application with whichever one holds your connection.
My bill still says Panchmahal. Is my utility different?
No. Mahisagar district was formed in 2013 from parts of Panchmahal and Kheda, and India Post still lists Lunawada offices under Panch Mahals. Electricity supply stayed with MGVCL throughout. The net-metering application goes to your MGVCL sub-division regardless of which district name appears on older papers.
How does net metering work on an MGVCL connection?
MGVCL replaces your meter with a bidirectional one. Units your roof exports are set off against units you draw from the grid in the billing cycle, so you pay only for the net. The terms are written by GERC, the state regulator, not by MGVCL or the installer.
How long does MGVCL approval take in Lunawada?
Usually two to five weeks from application to feasibility, then inspection and meter change after installation. The variable is the sub-division's workload at the time. We file, follow up and tell you where the file stands, so you are not left calling the office yourself.

Sizing & performance

How many units will solar generate in Lunawada?
About 4 to 4.5 units per installed kW per day on roughly 5.5 peak sun hours. That is 360 to 405 units a month from 3 kW and 600 to 675 units from 5 kW. Output dips in the cloudy weeks of July and August and recovers after the monsoon.
What size should I install for my MGVCL bill?
As a guide: 2 kW for bills up to ₹1,800 a month and 3 kW for ₹2,000 to ₹3,500. A 5 kW system suits ₹3,500 to ₹6,000, and 10 kW suits ₹6,000 to ₹13,000. Above ₹13,000, you are looking at 25 kW and commercial design. Always size on units across a full year.
Will an old-town roof near Mandvi Bazar work for solar?
Often, but it needs a shade check first. Houses in the old core around Mandvi Bazar and Vohrawad sit close together, and a taller neighbour, tank or stair cabin can shade part of the roof by afternoon. A raised structure or a smaller, well-placed array usually solves it.
Can I put solar on my farmhouse near Lunawada?
Yes. A farmhouse on a residential connection, in Kakachiya or Mota Sonela for example, can take rooftop solar with PM Surya Ghar. An irrigation pump is different: it sits on a farm feeder and belongs under PM-KUSUM. We size the house and point you to the right route for the pump.

Installation & service

How long does a rooftop installation take in Lunawada?
Two to four days on the roof for a home system once MGVCL feasibility is in hand. The whole process from first call to generation is usually four to eight weeks, and most of that time is portal and sub-division paperwork rather than site work.
Will the structure handle Lunawada's monsoon storms?
It should, if it is built for them. Ask for hot-dip galvanised steel with a stated coating thickness, anchoring designed for wind, sealed cable entries and earthing tested with a meter. The gusts that come with the first heavy showers in late June are the first real test.
Who fixes a fault after installation?
Our field team. Modules are Adani, supplied through our channel partnership, and inverters are Qbits, made within our group. Serial numbers are on your Bill of Materials, so a warranty claim goes to a known manufacturer rather than an importer who has disappeared.

About Heaven Green

Is there a Heaven Green office in Lunawada?
No. Our only office is at Mota Varachha in Surat. Lunawada is served by our channel partner network and field engineers, who do the survey, supervise installation and deal with MGVCL. We state this plainly so nobody signs expecting a local branch.
Why choose Heaven Green Energy for a Lunawada roof?
Installing since 2017, more than 10,000 installations, an authorised channel partner of Adani, Qbits inverters from our own group, and a written Bill of Materials on every job. We also handle the MGVCL and PM Surya Ghar paperwork ourselves. Hold any other quote against that list.
