Price, size and savings Find your bill. Read across.
Start with the bill, not the brochure. Locate your usual monthly MGVCL amount in the left column and read across. The row tells you the size that fits, what it generates, how much shadow-free roof it occupies and what you pay before and after subsidy.
Figures are indicative 2026 market ranges for Nadiad and Kheda district, covering Tier-1 modules, an inverter, a galvanised structure, protection gear and installation labour. They are not a Heaven Green quotation, which only follows a site survey. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar values from pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Rooftop solar systems carry 5% GST on the equipment since 22 Sep 2025. A supply-and-install contract taxes 30% of the value as installation service at 18%, so the blended rate on a typical quote is about 8.9%. Generation assumes an unshaded roof facing roughly south.
Read the units line on your bill first. MGVCL prints units consumed and your sanctioned load separately from the amount due. The array offsets units, so that is the number to size against. The rupee total also carries fixed charges and fuel adjustment, which make it a poor guide on its own.
Roof crowding decides the old town. Inside the pols of Dabhan Bhagol, Desai Vago and the lanes near Santram Mandir, houses share walls. Terraces are small and broken up by water tanks, stair heads and a neighbour's extra floor. A 2 or 3 kW array often fits there; a 5 kW one often does not. Newer societies along Pij Road, College Road and Uttarsanda Road usually have clear RCC terraces, so the sizing question there is about load, not space.
Above 3 kW the subsidy stops growing. PM Surya Ghar gives ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, capped at ₹78,000. On a 3 kW system that is close to a third of the price; on a 10 kW system it is nearer an eighth. If your bill sits on the line between two sizes, the smaller one usually wins on return.
Ask what is behind the number. Two quotes with the same total can hide very different structures, cable gauges and earthing. Get a written Bill of Materials with make, model and quantity for each part before you compare.
Why there is no rupee saving in that table
The table leaves out a rupee saving figure on purpose. What each solar unit is worth to you depends on your own MGVCL tariff category and slab. A domestic connection in Yogi Nagar is billed differently from a shop on Station Road or a unit in the GIDC. Bring a recent bill to the survey and the engineer will work out the monthly saving from your actual tariff, with you watching, instead of quoting a district average.
