Solar resource
About 5.5 peak sun hours
Sabarkantha shares the strong North Gujarat resource; the monsoon months are the only real dip.
Generation
4 to 4.5 units per kW daily
Yearly average. Clear March to May days beat it, cloudy July and August days fall short.
Central subsidy
Up to ₹78,000
PM Surya Ghar, for residential connections only. Same amount in every Indian town.
Typical payback
4–5 years for 5 kW
3.5–4.5 years on 2 kW and 3 kW home systems.

The short answer

A 3 kW rooftop system in Himatnagar typically costs ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,25,000 installed and a 5 kW system ₹2,85,000 to ₹3,45,000. Both figures come before the PM Surya Ghar subsidy of up to ₹78,000 returns to your bank. Expect 4 to 4.5 units per kW a day. Net metering is with UGVCL through its Himatnagar Circle, and 5 kW pays back in 4–5 years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Start from your UGVCL bill. Locate its band in the bill column. The same row shows the system size that bill normally justifies and its installed market range before subsidy. It also gives the monthly units a Himatnagar roof should deliver and how much clear roof you need.

Indicative Himatnagar market ranges, 2026

Above ₹13,000 25 kW+ A tile showroom on NH-48, a nursing home on Civil Road, or a unit shed in GIDC Motipura 3,000–3,400units/month Site-specific ₹10.75 lakh – ₹13.50 lakh ₹10.75 lakh–₹13.50 lakh, no subsidy 3–4.5 years

These are indicative market ranges for Himatnagar in 2026, not a Heaven Green Energy quotation. The figure you receive after survey depends on the roof: an RCC slab, a sheet roof or a farmhouse terrace. It also depends on how tall the structure must stand, the cable distance to the meter, the exact hardware and any slab repair. Subsidy amounts follow the central PM Surya Ghar slabs at pmsuryaghar.gov.in and apply only to residential connections. Rooftop solar systems attract 5% GST on the equipment since 22 Sep 2025. A supply-and-install contract taxes 30% of the value as installation service at 18%, so the blended rate on a typical quote is about 8.9%.

Read the subsidy column before you choose a size. The scheme pays ₹30,000 a kilowatt for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, so it tops out at ₹78,000 on a 3 kW system. Everything above 3 kW is your money alone. A 5 kW array is right for a Mahavirnagar bungalow with three ACs; it is a poor buy for a two-person household whose bill sits under ₹3,500.

Treat a quote far below these bands with suspicion. The saving nearly always comes out of the structure: lighter sections, thin galvanising, short legs bolted to a weak parapet. Himatnagar roofs face a dry, dusty spring and then a monsoon that drops most of the year's rain inside about three months. Cheap steel rusts at the base plates by the third season and the array starts to lean.

Also ask what the price assumes about cable runs. Older homes inside the fort-wall area often have the meter at street level and the usable roof two floors up, behind a staircase cabin. A longer DC or AC run adds cost, and an honest survey prices it before you sign rather than after.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

You will not find a promised rupee saving on this page. What you save depends on your UGVCL tariff category, sanctioned load and fixed charges. It also depends on how much of the solar output your household uses in daylight rather than sending to the grid. A family in Motipura that is out at work all day saves differently from a retired couple in Polo Ground running fans and a fridge at home. Bring two recent bills to the survey and we work the figure from your own units. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

PM Surya Ghar returns up to ₹78,000 to a household that installs rooftop solar through a vendor registered on the national portal and gets it commissioned on net metering. It arrives in your bank account after commissioning. It is never a discount printed on the invoice.

1

Create your portal account

Register at pmsuryaghar.gov.in with the UGVCL consumer number printed on your bill. Type your name and address as the bill shows them, letter for letter, because the portal cross-checks against UGVCL's records and a mismatch stalls the file.

2

Request technical feasibility

Apply with the capacity you want. UGVCL checks it against your sanctioned load and confirms the transformer feeding your lane can take the export. A Himatnagar Town or Mehtapura connection normally clears this in about two weeks.

3

Install through a listed vendor

The claim only counts if a registered vendor does the work. We upload the module and inverter details, the structure photographs and the commissioning record against your application number, so nothing waits on you.

4

Meter and inspection

UGVCL fits the bidirectional meter and the installation is inspected. Only after both does the portal issue the commissioning certificate, and no money moves until that certificate exists.

5

Add bank details, receive the credit

Enter your account number and upload a cancelled cheque. The ministry transfers the amount directly. Gujarat claims we file usually settle 30 to 45 days after the commissioning certificate is generated.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

Tile works, milk cooperatives, shops, clinics and GIDC units are outside PM Surya Ghar. A commercial connection claims accelerated depreciation on the asset instead, and for a profitable tile or trading business in Himatnagar that write-off can outweigh the residential subsidy. Ask your chartered accountant to model it before deciding.

UGVCL (Uttar Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Net metering lets the units your roof exports in the afternoon offset the units you draw at night. Without the bidirectional meter, surplus goes to the grid unpaid.

Himatnagar is supplied by Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited, UGVCL, the GUVNL distribution company for north Gujarat. The town is also the seat of one of UGVCL's four circles: the Himatnagar Circle, which sits alongside the Mehsana, Sabarmati and Palanpur circles. UGVCL's own Himatnagar Circle tender notices list a Himatnagar Division with Himatnagar Town, Himatnagar Rural, Mehtapura and Gambhoi sub-divisions under it. Which of those holds your file depends on your connection, and your bill names it.

Get the licensee right before anything is filed. Torrent Power distributes in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat city, not in Sabarkantha. DGVCL covers south Gujarat, MGVCL central Gujarat and PGVCL Saurashtra and Kutch. A Himatnagar quotation that names any of them was written for another town, and an application lodged with the wrong company simply sits there.

The rules come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. Rooftop capacity is limited to your sanctioned load, residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers can all apply, and exported units are set against imported units in each billing cycle. How any leftover credit is settled follows the GERC order in force on your commissioning date.

1

Online application

We submit the application with your consumer number, sanctioned load and proposed capacity. We then follow the feasibility through the sub-division printed on your bill, whether that is Himatnagar Town, Himatnagar Rural, Mehtapura or Gambhoi.

2

Installation and documents

After installation we lodge the test report with serial numbers for every module and the inverter, the earthing details and a single-line diagram. Incomplete documents are the usual reason a meter date slips.

3

Meter fitting and inspection

UGVCL fits and seals the bidirectional meter and the installation is inspected. Our engineer is present for both, so a question about protection or earthing is answered on the spot instead of becoming a second visit.

Solar for Himatnagar's businesses.

Himatnagar's business load is daytime-heavy. Tile finishing lines, milk chilling, hospitals, showrooms and the units in GIDC Motipura all draw hardest while the sun is up, when a rooftop array produces.

The town's industry is unusually concentrated. Ceramic and vitrified tile plants line the Sabar Dairy to Talod road around Gadhoda and Hajipur, with more on NH-48 and at Berna. Sabarkantha's district industrial profile lists ceramic tiles among the district's main exports. Sabar Dairy, the Sabarkantha district milk cooperative, runs its plant at Boria on the town's southern edge, and village milk societies across the taluka run bulk coolers twice a day. The GIDC estate at Motipura is fully allotted, with its units working ordinary day shifts.

Not every one of those loads suits solar equally. A tile kiln fires round the clock on gas, so rooftop solar offsets the electric load around it, chiefly the presses, glazing and polishing lines, rather than the kiln itself. A hospital or showroom on Civil Road or NH-48 is a cleaner fit: its air-conditioning peaks in the afternoon, exactly when generation does. Commercial consumers fall outside PM Surya Ghar; read accelerated depreciation on solar for the tax route and zero down payment solar if you want to keep working capital free.

  • Tile and vitrified plants on the Sabar Dairy–Talod road at Gadhoda and Hajipur, and at Berna.
  • GIDC Motipura: packaging, agro-chemicals, small engineering.
  • Hospitals, nursing homes and the medical college cluster along Civil Road.
  • Showrooms and hotels on NH-48 between Motipura Circle and the bypass.
  • Village milk societies and their bulk coolers across Himatnagar taluka.

Farm pumping is a separate question. Gujarat runs agricultural pumps on separate farm feeders under Jyotigram Yojana. Open wells irrigate about half of Sabarkantha's irrigated land, according to the district contingency plan, so pump loads matter here. PM Surya Ghar does not cover them. Farmers should read PM-KUSUM and solar pumps and our KUSUM guide for Gujarat, which explain the scheme that does.

Why us

Why Himatnagar households pick Heaven Green Energy

We have installed since 2017 and passed 10,000 installations across Gujarat. That record is why our UGVCL files move, why our hardware prices stay where we quoted them, and why a warranty claim comes back to a company still trading.

The right office, first timeYour file goes to UGVCL's Himatnagar Circle and the sub-division on your bill. Gujarat solar files lose weeks when they are lodged with the wrong licensee or the wrong sub-division, and we check before submitting.
Adani modules, Qbits invertersWe are an authorised channel partner of Adani for modules and install only Adani panels. Inverters are Qbits, our group's own brand, so an inverter warranty claim comes back to us.
Subsidy filed for youPortal account, feasibility, commissioning upload, bank details: we do each step and tell you when it is done. Most Gujarat claims we file settle within 30 to 45 days of commissioning.
Surveyed before pricedWe measure shade, slab strength and cable route before quoting. A price that climbs after signature means somebody skipped the survey, and that is not how we work.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy has one office, at Mota Varachha in Surat. There is no Himatnagar branch, address or local phone number, and we tell you that at the start. We serve Himatnagar and the rest of North Gujarat through our channel partner network and field engineering team. They carry out the surveys, supervise installation and deal with UGVCL on the ground.

How we work

From first call to a spinning net meter.

Four stages take you from the first call to a UGVCL bill that shows a net figure.

01

Bill check and first sizing

Send two recent UGVCL bills. We work from the units, not the rupee total, and reply with an indicative size and price band before anyone visits Himatnagar.

Same day
02

Roof survey and written proposal

An engineer measures shade through the day, checks the slab or shed, and plans the cable route to the meter. The proposal states the generation estimate, structure specification and subsidy working.

2–4 days
03

Installation and commissioning

Structure, modules, inverter, earthing, surge protection and monitoring. Each stage is photographed, because the portal and the inspection both ask for proof.

2–4 days on site
04

Meter, certificate, subsidy

UGVCL fits the bidirectional meter, the inspection clears, the commissioning certificate is issued and the subsidy is paid to your bank account.

3–7 weeks

How Himatnagar's climate treats a rooftop array

Himatnagar has a long dry season and a short, concentrated monsoon. Sabarkantha's district contingency plan puts normal rainfall at about 807 mm over roughly 35 rainy days, arriving in the last week of June and largely over by mid-September. Long-run averages put May afternoons around 40°C. Three things follow for your system.

Eight months of soiling

From October to June there is little rain to rinse the modules. Dust lifts off the goradu sandy loam and black-soil fields around the town after each harvest, and traffic on NH-48 adds more. Roofs near the tile plants on the Talod road pick up fine mineral dust as well. Plan a wash every three to four weeks in the dry season, with soft water if your borewell water is hard.

April to June heat

Modules lose output as they heat, and a 40°C afternoon pushes cell temperatures well past that. We raise the array on its structure so air moves underneath, and we keep the inverter in shade on a north or east wall. An inverter hung in direct western sun on a Motipura terrace will cut back its own output by mid-afternoon.

A monsoon that arrives all at once

Because most of the year's rain falls inside about eleven weeks, July and August generation drops on overcast days and then recovers fast in September. The bigger test is the squall line ahead of the monsoon in June. Anchor bolts into the slab, not loose ballast, and a wind-rated structure keep the array in place. The Hathmati catchment's heavy spells are also a reason to check roof drainage before the frame goes up.

Areas of Himatnagar we install in.

We work across Himatnagar (also spelt Himmatnagar), the newer colonies around it, the highway and Sabar Dairy belt, and the villages of Himatnagar taluka. If your area is not listed, ask; the list shows places we have checked, not a boundary.

Questions

Solar in Himatnagar: every question answered.

17 questions Himatnagar buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What is the solar panel price in Himatnagar for 2026?
Indicative installed ranges before subsidy run ₹1,25,000 to ₹1,55,000 for 2 kW and ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,25,000 for 3 kW. A 5 kW system runs ₹2,85,000 to ₹3,45,000, and 10 kW ₹5,20,000 to ₹6,30,000. Roof type, structure height and the distance to your meter move the final figure.
How much is the Himatnagar solar subsidy under PM Surya Ghar?
Up to ₹78,000 for a residential connection. The scheme pays ₹30,000 a kilowatt for two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then stops. It is central money, so a Himatnagar home receives exactly what a home in any other Indian town receives.
Can a tile unit on the Sabar Dairy–Talod road claim the subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for homes only. A tile plant, showroom or GIDC unit is a commercial or industrial consumer, and it recovers value through accelerated depreciation on the system instead. For a profitable plant that route can return more than ₹78,000 would. Check it with your accountant.
What does 3 kW cost after the subsidy comes back?
On the indicative band of ₹1,80,000 to ₹2,25,000, the full ₹78,000 subsidy brings your net outlay to roughly ₹1,02,000 to ₹1,47,000. You still pay the full price first; the subsidy reaches your bank account after the commissioning certificate is issued.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which UGVCL office handles net metering in Himatnagar?
UGVCL's Himatnagar Circle, through the Himatnagar Division. UGVCL's own tender notices list Himatnagar Town, Himatnagar Rural, Mehtapura and Gambhoi as sub-divisions in that division. Your bill shows which one holds your connection, and that is where the application must go.
Is Himatnagar under Torrent Power or UGVCL?
UGVCL. Torrent Power holds distribution licences in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat city, none of which include Sabarkantha. A quote naming Torrent, DGVCL, MGVCL or PGVCL for a Himatnagar roof has been copied from another town's paperwork.
How long does UGVCL net metering take in Himatnagar?
Allow three to seven weeks from installation to a sealed bidirectional meter. That window covers feasibility, the test report with serial numbers, the meter fitting and the inspection. A complete file lodged with the correct sub-division keeps you at the short end.
Can I put solar on my farmhouse near Ilol or Gambhoi?
Yes, on the farmhouse's residential connection, which qualifies for net metering and PM Surya Ghar like any home. Your irrigation pump sits on a separate agricultural feeder and is outside PM Surya Ghar; PM-KUSUM is the scheme for solar pumps, and our KUSUM guide explains the process.

Sizing & performance

What will a 5 kW system generate in Himatnagar each month?
Roughly 600 to 675 units a month. Sabarkantha gets about 5.5 peak sun hours, which works out to 4 to 4.5 units per kW a day over a year. Expect more in March to May, less in overcast July and August, and less again if the panels are dusty.
My bill is about ₹5,000 a month. What size do I need?
A bill between ₹3,500 and ₹6,000 usually points to 5 kW, which needs about 500 sq ft of shade-free roof. Size from units consumed, though. Fixed charges and slab tariffs distort the rupee total, and two Mahavirnagar bungalows on the same bill can need different systems.
Will an old-town terrace near Tower Chowk fit 3 kW?
A 3 kW system needs around 300 sq ft without shade. Houses inside the old walled area often have staircase cabins, water tanks and taller neighbours close by, which throw long shadows in December. We measure shade across the day before deciding, and sometimes 2 kW is the honest answer.
Does tile-plant dust on the Talod road cut output?
It can. Fine mineral dust settles faster near the tile plants around Gadhoda and Hajipur, and NH-48 traffic adds road dust. An uncleaned array there loses noticeably more than one in Polo Ground. Washing every two to three weeks in the dry season holds output close to the estimate.

Installation & service

How long does a rooftop installation take in Himatnagar?
Two to four days on site for a typical home: structure, modules, inverter, earthing, surge protection and the monitoring link. The longer wait follows, for the UGVCL meter fitting and the inspection, which together take three to seven weeks.
How often should panels be cleaned in Himatnagar?
Every three to four weeks from October to June, since almost no rain falls then to rinse them. Use soft water where borewell water is hard, and clean early morning rather than on a hot module. The monsoon does most of the cleaning from July to mid-September.
Who services the system after installation?
We do. Systems are monitored remotely and we schedule service visits, which matter in a dusty district like Sabarkantha. As an authorised channel partner of Adani for modules and maker of the group's Qbits inverters, warranty claims return to us rather than to a distant supplier.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green Energy have an office in Himatnagar?
No. Our only office is at Mota Varachha in Surat. Himatnagar jobs are handled by our channel partner network and field engineering team, who survey, supervise the installation and work with the UGVCL sub-division. We would rather say that now than after you have signed.
How long has Heaven Green Energy been installing solar?
Since 2017, with more than 10,000 installations across Gujarat on homes, commercial roofs, industrial sheds and farm connections. That volume is why our UGVCL paperwork moves without you chasing it and why our hardware prices hold between quote and installation.
