The short answer

Rooftop solar in Bhuj costs roughly ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh for 3 kW before subsidy, and ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. Each installed kilowatt yields 4 to 4.5 units a day. Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited, PGVCL, is the Bhuj distribution licensee and approves net metering. Residential payback runs three and a half to five years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Bhuj buyers are usually quoted a per-watt rate over the phone and nothing else, which hides what is actually in the system. This table states the whole thing instead. Find your monthly bill in the left column, then read across for system size, monthly generation, shadow-free roof area, payback and cost after subsidy. Nothing here changes once an engineer reaches your roof.

Indicative Bhuj market ranges, 2026

These are indicative Bhuj market ranges for 2026 covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, a galvanised mounting structure, protection gear and installation. They are not a Heaven Green Energy quotation. Subsidy figures are the central PM Surya Ghar amounts published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.

The subsidy stops climbing after 3 kW. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing above that. It covers about a third of a 3 kW system and roughly an eighth of a 10 kW one. If your bill sits on the border, 3 kW returns more per rupee spent than 4 kW does.

Size against units, not rupees. Read the units consumed off your PGVCL bill, not the amount payable. Units are what an array cancels. A Bhuj household burning 430 units through May and 180 in January should be sized on the annual total, not on the May bill alone.

The Kachchh-specific warning: ask about wind and anchoring, not just panels. Cheap quotes here almost never cut the module. They cut the structure, the foundation detail and the fastener grade, and Bhuj is a high-wind, seismic-zone-V district where those are the parts that matter. Ask what the structure weighs per kW, how it is coated, and how it is tied into the slab. A quote that cannot answer those three questions in writing is not comparable with one that can, whatever the per-watt number says.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

We do not print a rupee saving on this page. What you save depends on your tariff category, your slab, how much you draw after sunset and how much you export to PGVCL. A figure invented for a generic Bhuj household would be wrong for yours, and you would find that out a year later. Bring your last bill to the survey and we calculate it against your own consumption. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana pays up to ₹78,000 to residential consumers, and the amount in Bhuj is the same as in Rajkot or Delhi. It is a central scheme, not a Gujarat one. We file it, track it and chase it, so the money reaches your bank account rather than a pending queue.

1

Register on the national portal

Your consumer number, printed on the PGVCL bill, and your mobile number open the registration at pmsuryaghar.gov.in. We complete it for you so the name and number match PGVCL records character for character. Mismatches are where most Kachchh files stall.

2

Get feasibility approval from PGVCL

Paschim Gujarat Vij checks that your sanctioned load, phase and local transformer can carry the proposed array. Approval usually returns in a week or two. Nothing goes on your roof before that clearance arrives, whatever a vendor tells you.

3

Install with an empanelled vendor

The subsidy pays only against a vendor registered on the portal using DCR-compliant modules. Heaven Green Energy is empanelled. We install Adani Solar modules with our own Qbits inverters and log every serial number on the portal as we go.

4

Net metering and commissioning

PGVCL inspects the installation, replaces your meter with a bidirectional one and issues the commissioning certificate. That certificate is the document the subsidy is released against, so we do not consider a job finished until it is in hand.

5

Subsidy credited to your account

You upload bank details and the commissioning certificate, and the central transfer follows, typically within thirty days. We handle the upload and the follow-up. If the file sits idle, we chase it rather than asking you to visit an office.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

Businesses cannot claim PM Surya Ghar under any reading of the scheme. It is residential only. A Bhuj shop, hotel, craft workshop, cold store or GIDC unit uses accelerated depreciation on the asset instead. For a profitable firm, that is often worth more than ₹78,000 over the first two assessment years. Your chartered accountant should price both routes before you sign.

PGVCL (Paschim Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Net metering is what turns daytime generation into money on your bill. Without a sanctioned bidirectional meter, every unit you export to PGVCL is given away for nothing, and the payback maths on this page stops applying to you.

Your Bhuj distribution licensee is Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited, PGVCL. It is one of four state distribution companies carved out of the old Gujarat Electricity Board, and it covers Saurashtra and Kachchh from its Rajkot corporate office. Bhuj is not an outpost of that network. PGVCL runs a zonal office here that oversees the Kachchh circle, with division premises in the Power House compound near Hospital Road and the Nagor GIDC estate.

Do not apply to the wrong utility. Torrent Power distributes in Ahmedabad and Surat, MGVCL covers central Gujarat around Vadodara, DGVCL the south, and UGVCL the north. None of them can sanction a meter in Bhuj. Nor can the solar park developers you see on the Khavda road, who are generators feeding the transmission grid, not your distribution licensee.

The framework itself is set by the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission. Rooftop capacity is capped against your sanctioned load, and every consumer category may apply. Exported units are credited against imported units over the billing cycle rather than paid at the retail tariff. If you want more capacity than your sanction allows, the load has to be raised first, and that is a separate PGVCL application.

1

Feasibility application

We submit your consumer details, proposed capacity and single-line diagram to the PGVCL Bhuj division, and answer their technical queries directly instead of routing them through you.

2

Technical sanction

Paschim Gujarat Vij verifies transformer headroom and sanctioned load, then issues feasibility approval. This is the gate. Installation before it risks a system that cannot be legally connected.

3

Installation and test report

We install, earth and commission the array, then file the test report and the electrical inspector paperwork ourselves. That way the meter change can be scheduled without an extra round of corrections and a second site visit.

4

Bidirectional meter fitted

PGVCL inspects, swaps the meter and issues the commissioning certificate. From the next billing cycle your bill shows import, export and net units separately.

Not a home?

Solar for Bhuj's businesses.

Not a house? Kachchh commercial and industrial loads are where solar pays back fastest, because the tariff is higher, the demand charge bites, and most of the load runs in daylight.

Bhuj taluka has two GIDC estates, at Bhuj and at Madhapar, plus the Nagor estate. The wider Kachchh belt runs from salt works and their pumping loads through ceramics, chemicals and engineering units towards Anjar and Gandhidham. Closer in, the Bhujodi and Ajrakhpur craft clusters run weaving sheds, dye and block-printing units and showrooms whose lighting and water-heating loads sit squarely in the solar window. Cold stores, hotels on the Mundra and Mandvi roads, schools and hospitals around the GAIMS campus all fit the same profile. They run long daylight operating hours on a commercial tariff that makes every self-consumed unit worth more than an exported one.

Commercial systems are not eligible for PM Surya Ghar, so the economics come from the tariff you avoid and from tax treatment. Read accelerated depreciation on solar before you commit capital, and zero down payment solar if you would rather keep the cash in the business.

Why us

Why Bhuj customers choose Heaven Green Energy

We have installed since 2017 and passed 10,000 installations. In a district that already sees utility-scale solar daily, we are judged on engineering rather than on novelty.

Adani Solar modules, Qbits invertersWe are an authorised channel partner of Adani and we manufacture our Qbits inverters in-house. If an inverter needs attention, the warranty conversation is with the people who built it, not a chain of three suppliers.
Specified for dust and saltStructure gauge, coating and fastener grade are chosen for Kachchh air rather than copied from a Surat drawing. We tell you what steel you are buying, what it is coated with and how it is anchored.
PGVCL paperwork is oursFeasibility, test report, electrical inspector file, meter change and the subsidy claim are all handled by us. You do not queue at the Bhuj division office for a signature on your own system.
Prices before the site visitThe range is printed above before anyone calls you. If your roof needs something outside it, we say so with a reason at survey rather than adjusting the number quietly once you are committed.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy is headquartered at Mota Varachha, Surat. We have no branch office in Bhuj. We serve Bhuj and the wider Kachchh region through our channel partner network and field engineering team, who run the surveys, supervise installation and handle PGVCL coordination on the ground. We state this before you sign rather than after.

How we work

From first call to a spinning net meter.

Four stages from your first call to a bidirectional meter spinning backwards.

01

Bill review and call back

Send your last PGVCL bill and pin code. An engineer reads your annual units, proposes a size and gives cost after subsidy, usually within two working hours.

Same day
02

Site survey

We measure usable shadow-free roof, check slab and wall anchoring, and assess dust exposure and shading from tanks, parapets and neighbouring walls. Then we issue a written proposal with a generation estimate and the structure specification.

2–4 days
03

Approvals and installation

We file PGVCL feasibility and the subsidy registration, then install once sanction arrives. Mounting, wiring, earthing and protection are completed in two to four days on site.

3–5 weeks
04

Meter, commissioning, subsidy

PGVCL inspects and fits the bidirectional meter, the commissioning certificate is issued, and we push the subsidy claim through to credit. Monitoring is live from day one.

What Bhuj weather does to a solar system

Bhuj is arid, hot, dusty and close enough to the Gulf of Kachchh for salt to reach the roof. Those facts decide hardware selection here, and they are why a coastal-grade specification is not optional. A system engineered for inland Gujarat will produce less and age faster on a Bhuj roof.

Extreme heat cuts module output

Bhuj records 45 °C and above in the pre-monsoon weeks, and a panel in that air sits far hotter than its rating. Every module loses output as its cell temperature climbs. The fix is mechanical: raised mounting with real air gap under the array, and cable routing that stays out of direct sun. Mount the inverter in shade, not on a west-facing wall.

Dust is the biggest annual loss here

Kachchh rainfall is under 400 mm in a typical year, and a median Bhuj year sees rain for only a handful of hours. That means the natural washing other Indian cities get from the monsoon barely happens. Dust settles and stays. Budget for scheduled cleaning rather than occasional cleaning, and check that your maintenance contract actually names a frequency instead of promising visits in vague terms.

Salt air and seismic-zone structure

Salt from the Gulf of Kachchh and the salt works reaches inland air here, which pits cheap aluminium clamps and corrodes lightly galvanised steel. Kachchh is also in seismic zone V, the highest in the Indian code, and the 2001 earthquake is why local construction standards are taken seriously. Mounting must be anchored into the structure and detailed accordingly, not simply weighted down with blocks and left to the wind.

Questions

Solar in Bhuj: every question answered.

17 questions Bhuj buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What is the solar panel price in Bhuj in 2026?
A 3 kW rooftop system runs roughly ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh installed before subsidy, and about ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. A 5 kW system runs ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh before subsidy. These are indicative Bhuj market ranges for a complete installed system, not a Heaven Green quotation, and your own roof decides the final figure.
How much subsidy do I get in Bhuj?
Up to ₹78,000 for a residential connection. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third, then stops. It is a central scheme, so Bhuj gets exactly what Rajkot or Bhopal gets. Businesses are not eligible.
Is 3 kW or 5 kW better value in Bhuj?
It depends on your units, but 3 kW is the sweet spot for subsidy efficiency because it is the largest system that still earns the full ₹78,000. Above that, every extra kilowatt is unsubsidised. Choose 5 kW when your bill genuinely sits in the ₹3,500 to ₹6,000 band.
Can I get solar in Bhuj with no advance payment?
Yes. We survey and propose without any advance. Financed installations through our partners are possible, with the system commissioned before the first instalment falls due. Read our zero down payment guide for how the structure works and what documentation lenders ask for.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which electricity company handles solar in Bhuj?
Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited, PGVCL. It is the distribution licensee for Saurashtra and Kachchh, and it runs a zonal office in Bhuj covering the Kachchh circle. Torrent Power, MGVCL, DGVCL and UGVCL do not distribute here and cannot sanction your meter.
How does PGVCL net metering work in Bhuj?
PGVCL fits a bidirectional meter after commissioning. Units you export during the day are credited against units you import at night within the billing cycle, so you pay only the net. Capacity is capped against your sanctioned load under the GERC framework.
How long does PGVCL approval take in Bhuj?
Feasibility approval usually returns within one to two weeks of filing, and the meter change follows two to four weeks after commissioning. Delays almost always come from consumer name or number mismatches on the application, which is why we prepare the file ourselves.
Can I install more solar than my sanctioned load?
No. GERC caps rooftop capacity against your sanctioned load, so a 3 kW sanction will not carry a 6 kW array. You can apply to PGVCL to raise the sanctioned load first. That is a separate PGVCL application with its own timeline, and we tell you at survey if your sanction is the binding constraint on system size.

Sizing & performance

How many units will a solar system generate in Bhuj?
Around 4 to 4.5 units per installed kilowatt per day as an annual average, from roughly 5.5 peak sun hours. A 3 kW array yields about 360 to 405 units a month, a 5 kW array about 600 to 675. Summer runs higher, the short monsoon lower.
How much roof do I need in Bhuj?
About 300 sq ft of shadow-free roof for 3 kW, roughly 500 sq ft for 5 kW, and 700 to 1,000 sq ft for 10 kW. Water tanks, parapets and neighbouring walls reduce usable area, which is exactly what the site survey measures.
Does Bhuj dust reduce solar output?
Yes, and more than in wetter cities. Kachchh gets under 400 mm of rain in a typical year, so panels are not washed naturally for months at a stretch. Scheduled cleaning holds output near the estimate. Neglected panels in this district lose a meaningful share of annual generation.
Does 45 degree heat damage the panels?
It does not damage them, but it lowers output while the cells are hot, which is normal physics rather than a defect. Raised mounting with airflow beneath the array and a shaded inverter position recover part of that loss. We design for it rather than ignoring it.

Installation & service

How long does installation take in Bhuj?
Roughly three to five weeks from order to generation, most of which is PGVCL approval time. Physical work on a residential roof takes two to four days. Meter fitting and subsidy credit follow over the next two to four weeks.
Will the structure survive Kachchh wind and earthquakes?
It is designed to. Kachchh is in seismic zone V and is a high-wind district, so mounting is anchored into the structure and detailed for wind uplift rather than simply weighted down. We state steel gauge, coating and anchoring method in the written proposal.
Who services the system after installation?
Our field engineering team, coordinated from Surat and working through our Kachchh channel partners. Monitoring is live from commissioning, so underperformance is visible to us before you notice it on a bill. We write cleaning frequency into the maintenance schedule rather than leave it to memory. In Kachchh, that single item decides how close you stay to the generation estimate over a full year.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green Energy have an office in Bhuj?
No. Our single office is at Mota Varachha, Surat. We serve Bhuj and the Kachchh region through channel partners and our own field engineers who run surveys, supervise installation and handle PGVCL coordination. We say this upfront rather than implying a local branch.
Why choose Heaven Green over a local Bhuj installer?
Because of hardware control and paperwork. We are an authorised channel partner of Adani and build our own Qbits inverters, so warranty claims do not bounce between suppliers. We have installed since 2017 and passed 10,000 installations, and we file every PGVCL and subsidy document ourselves.
