Jamnagar is supplied by Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL), a GUVNL subsidiary distributing power across Saurashtra and Kutch from its corporate office in Rajkot. Jamnagar has its own PGVCL circle office at Lal Bungalow, with city divisions under it. Jamnagar district is one of the twelve districts in the PGVCL licence area, alongside Rajkot, Morbi, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Botad, Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Kutch.
PGVCL is not the same company as Torrent Power, the private licensee in Ahmedabad and Surat city. Nor is it MGVCL in central Gujarat, DGVCL in the south or UGVCL in the north. Gujarat has four state discoms and one large private one. A page that tells you to file your Jamnagar application with Torrent has sent you to the wrong counter entirely.
The commercial rules come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), not from PGVCL and certainly not from us. Under the GERC rooftop framework your system is capped against your sanctioned load, and every consumer category may apply. Exported units are credited against imported units rather than paid out in cash. Two numbers on your bill therefore decide your array size: units consumed and sanctioned load in kilowatts. If you want more capacity than your load permits, the load enhancement application goes in first.
Practically, that means we read two lines off your bill before we quote anything. We tell you at the survey if a load enhancement is needed, rather than discovering it after you have paid an advance to somebody.
