The short answer

Rooftop solar in Ahmedabad costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh for 3 kW and ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh for 5 kW before subsidy, less up to ₹78,000 under PM Surya Ghar. Each kW generates 4 to 4.5 units daily. Torrent Power is the licensee inside city limits, UGVCL outside them. Payback runs three and a half to five years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Most Ahmedabad solar pages hide the price behind a form. This table does not. Find your monthly bill in the left column and read across for the system size, monthly generation, shadow-free roof area, payback and what the system costs before subsidy. Sizes are set by consumption, so use the units on your bill rather than the rupees.

Indicative Ahmedabad market ranges, 2026
Your monthly bill System Generates Roof needed Cost after subsidy Payback
Up to ₹1,800 2 kW 1–2 BHK, one AC used sparingly 240–270units/month ~200 sq ft ₹65,000 – ₹95,000 ₹1.25 lakh–₹1.55 lakh before ₹60,000 subsidy 3.5–4.5 years

Above ₹13,000 25 kW+ Commercial connections, on accelerated depreciation 3,000–3,400units/month Site-specific ₹10.75 lakh – ₹13.50 lakh ₹10.75 lakh–₹13.50 lakh, no subsidy 3–4.5 years

These are indicative Ahmedabad market ranges for 2026, covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. They are not a Heaven Green Energy quotation. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.

The 3 kW cliff is the single most expensive thing to misunderstand. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third. Above 3 kW it pays nothing more. So the subsidy wipes out roughly a third of a 3 kW system and barely a seventh of a 10 kW one. If your bill sits on the boundary, 3 kW returns more rupees per rupee spent.

A cheap Ahmedabad quote is cheap in the steel, not the glass. Galvanising thickness, cable gauge, earthing and surge protection separate the bottom of each band from the top, and none of them are visible from your terrace. Ask for a written Bill of Materials naming make, model and quantity. Without one you are comparing two numbers, not two systems.

One warning specific to this city: check who your licensee actually is before you sign. A bungalow in Bopal or a shed in Changodar sits on a UGVCL connection, not Torrent Power, even though the address says Ahmedabad. Vendors who assume Torrent Power for every Ahmedabad pin code file in the wrong place, get the application returned, and lose three to four weeks doing it again. Your bill header names the licensee. Read it before you sign anything.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

You will notice there is no rupee saving in that table. Your saving depends on the slab rate you personally pay, which is printed on your own bill and differs between a Torrent Power residential consumer, a UGVCL rural consumer and a commercial connection in the same street. We will not guess it, and any vendor quoting you a lifetime saving before reading your bill has. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we will work the exact figure out in front of you. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

Anyone advertising a bigger "Ahmedabad subsidy" or a "Gujarat top-up" is describing something that does not exist. PM Surya Ghar is a central scheme, so ₹78,000 is the national ceiling. What changes by city is who processes your file, and here that is either Torrent Power or UGVCL.

1

Register on the National Portal

You register at pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your consumer number, mobile, Aadhaar and address. We sit with you for this. A consumer number keyed against the wrong licensee is the commonest reason an Ahmedabad application stalls at step one.

2

Apply for feasibility, then pick your vendor

Your licensee checks the application against your sanctioned load and network capacity. You then select an empanelled vendor. Heaven Green Energy is empanelled, so we map directly to your application without you refiling anything.

3

Install after approval, never before

We supply Adani modules with traceable serial numbers and hand you a Bill of Materials and warranty schedule on the day. Installing ahead of approval is how roofs end up generating with no sanctioned net meter behind them.

4

Inspection and net meter

The licensee inspects the installation and fits the bidirectional meter, which generates a commissioning certificate on the portal. Our engineer attends the inspection so questions on earthing or isolation are answered on the spot.

5

Claim and credit

We file the subsidy claim once the certificate issues, and the government credits the money straight into your bank account. It never passes through us. Treat any vendor offering to collect the subsidy on your behalf as a warning sign.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

PM Surya Ghar covers residential consumers only. An Ahmedabad shop, mill, clinic or factory cannot claim it. Businesses instead claim accelerated depreciation on the asset, which for a taxpaying firm frequently returns more than ₹78,000 would have.

Torrent Power

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Ahmedabad is where competing pages get the utility wrong, and the error costs you weeks of delay plus every export credit you were counting on in the meantime.

Ahmedabad has a split licence. Inside the municipal limits, your distribution licensee is Torrent Power Limited, a private licensee that also supplies Gandhinagar, Surat city, Dahej SEZ and Dholera SIR. Outside those limits, across Daskroi, Sanand, Bavla, Dholka, Viramgam and Dhandhuka, supply comes from Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), the state discom headquartered at Mehsana, through its Sabarmati circle. Bopal, Shela, Shilaj, Changodar, Kathwada, Bareja and Naroda's outer stretches sit on that UGVCL network. Vadodara runs on MGVCL and Rajkot on PGVCL, so neither of those applies here.

Commercial terms come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), not from the licensee and not from us. Under the GERC net-metering regulations, systems from 1 kW to 1 MW qualify, every consumer category may apply, and capacity is tied to your sanctioned load, with residential consumers treated more liberally on that limit. Surplus units you export become credits against the units you draw at night and through the monsoon.

The practical consequence is simple. Your pin code decides your portal, your application format and your inspection queue. We check that before we quote.

1

Application

Consumer details, sanctioned load, system rating, single-line diagram and equipment datasheets go to Torrent Power or UGVCL, whichever holds your connection.

Filed by us
2

Technical feasibility

The licensee tests whether your sanctioned load and distribution transformer carry the proposed capacity. Oversized systems fail here, which is why we read your sanctioned load on the first visit.

Torrent Power or UGVCL
3

Installation and inspection

We install. The licensee inspects earthing, protection, isolation and metering compliance before it will release a meter.

Us, then the licensee
4

Bidirectional meter

Your existing meter is swapped for a bidirectional net meter and the commissioning certificate issues. Export credits begin from that date, not from the day panels went up.

Not a home?

Solar for Ahmedabad's businesses.

Running a textile mill, a pharma unit, an engineering shed, a showroom or a clinic rather than a home? The economics work differently, and this page is written for homeowners.

Businesses in Naroda GIDC, Vatva, Odhav, Kathwada, Narol, Changodar and the Sanand corridor get no PM Surya Ghar subsidy. They claim accelerated depreciation on the asset instead, which for a taxpaying business usually beats what the residential subsidy pays, and they can skip the capital outlay entirely through OPEX or RESCO structures.

We deliver turnkey commercial and industrial EPC across the Ahmedabad belt: structural design to wind-load standards, licensee registration with Torrent Power or UGVCL depending on the estate, and long-term operations and maintenance. Sheds in Vatva and Odhav often need the roof assessed before the array is designed, because asbestos sheeting and low-gauge purlins change the mounting method entirely. Ahmedabad's textile, dyestuff, pharma and engineering units also carry heavy daytime loads, which is the load profile rooftop solar suits best.

Why us

Why Ahmedabad customers choose Heaven Green Energy

We have built solar since 2017 and delivered more than 10,000 installations across India, from single rooftops to industrial plants running into hundreds of kilowatts.

Authorised Adani Solar distributorGenuine Adani modules with traceable serial numbers and the full manufacturer warranty behind them. No grey-market stock, and no obscure brand that has disappeared by year eight, which is exactly when a performance claim needs honouring.
We build our own invertersQbits is our in-house inverter brand. Service on the component most likely to need it runs through us rather than through an importer with a three-week lead time and no local stock of boards.
We check your licensee firstTorrent Power or UGVCL is settled at survey stage, before anything is quoted or filed anywhere. That single check is what separates a four-week Ahmedabad connection from a three-month one spent refiling.
Nothing to pay for the surveyThe survey and written proposal cost nothing and commit you to nothing. You keep the Bill of Materials, generation estimate and payback figure, and you are free to price them against any rival in the city.

Where we are based

Heaven Green Energy is headquartered at Mota Varachha, Surat. We serve Ahmedabad and the wider Central Gujarat region through our channel partner network and field engineering team, who run the surveys, supervise installation and handle Torrent Power or UGVCL coordination on the ground. There is no Heaven Green branch office in Ahmedabad, and we say so before you sign rather than after.

What Ahmedabad weather does to a solar system

Ahmedabad has a hot semi-arid climate: a long dry season, a short violent monsoon and very high irradiance throughout. The irradiance helps you and the dry months help you. The heat, the dust and the storms do not, and each one changes how the system has to be engineered.

Extreme summer heat and derating

May maximums average around 42°C and the hottest days reach 45°C. Module output drops as cell temperature climbs, so airflow is the fix: genuine clearance between module and terrace so heat escapes underneath. A structure bolted flush to the slab to save steel quietly costs you generation every summer for twenty-five years.

Dust, loo winds and soiling

Humidity in summer sits around 30 to 40 per cent and pre-monsoon dust storms ride the loo wind across the city. Construction along SG Highway, the SP Ring Road and the Sanand corridor adds to it. Soiling is the most underrated cause of weak output because it is invisible from the ground. Clean every two to three weeks from March to June.

A short, heavy monsoon

Roughly 780 mm falls between mid-June and September, most of it in July, alongside frequent afternoon thunderstorms. The array must shed water and survive gusts, which means foundation design, galvanising thickness and fastener grade, plus earthing and surge protection for the inverter. Rain does wash the glass, which is the one free maintenance visit you get.

Questions

Solar in Ahmedabad: every question answered.

17 questions Ahmedabad buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What is the cost of solar panel installation in Ahmedabad in 2026?
A 2 kW system runs ₹1.25 lakh to ₹1.55 lakh, 3 kW is ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh, 5 kW is ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh and 10 kW is ₹5.20 lakh to ₹6.30 lakh, all before subsidy. Structure quality, protection specification and roof access drive the spread, not the panel brand.
What is the price of a 3 kW solar system in Ahmedabad with subsidy?
Between ₹1.02 lakh and ₹1.47 lakh net, from ₹1.80 to ₹2.25 lakh less the ₹78,000 subsidy. A 3 kW system generates 360 to 405 units a month in Ahmedabad, which covers a household using 300 to 400 units. It is the smallest system that earns the full subsidy.
How much solar subsidy do I get in Ahmedabad?
Up to ₹78,000. Per pmsuryaghar.gov.in, PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing above that. So 1 kW earns ₹30,000, 2 kW earns ₹60,000, and 3 kW or larger earns ₹78,000. Gujarat adds no separate top-up.
Can I buy solar on EMI or a loan in Ahmedabad?
Yes. Residential rooftop solar falls under priority-sector lending, so several banks and NBFCs finance it at collateral-free terms up to a limit. Most Ahmedabad households finance the pre-subsidy amount, then prepay principal once the subsidy lands. We can introduce financing partners, though comparing their terms against your own bank is usually the smarter move.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which DISCOM serves Ahmedabad for rooftop solar?
It depends on your address. Inside the municipal limits the licensee is Torrent Power Limited, a private distribution licensee. Outside them, across Daskroi, Sanand, Bavla, Dholka, Viramgam and Dhandhuka, supply comes from UGVCL, Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited. Check your bill header before filing anything.
I live in Bopal. Is my solar application filed with Torrent Power or UGVCL?
Bopal, Shela and Shilaj sit on UGVCL's Sabarmati circle, not on Torrent Power, despite carrying Ahmedabad addresses and 380058 pin codes. Your consumer number on the bill settles it in seconds. Filing with the wrong licensee means the application is rejected and refiled, typically costing three to four weeks.
Is net metering available in Ahmedabad, and what happens to my surplus units?
Yes, under the GERC net-metering regulations, for systems from 1 kW to 1 MW and for every consumer category. Your home uses solar first by day and exports the surplus as credit against units drawn at night and through the monsoon. The March to May surplus effectively banks against the July dip.
How long does net metering take in Ahmedabad?
A few weeks from application to installed bidirectional meter, covering feasibility, post-installation inspection and the meter swap. Installation itself is only days of that. The licensee-controlled steps set the pace and no installer can compress them, so treat a guaranteed one-week net meter as a red flag rather than a selling point.

Sizing & performance

How many units does 1 kW of solar generate per day in Ahmedabad?
About 4 to 4.5 units daily, averaged over the year. Ahmedabad gets roughly 5.5 peak sun hours, among the strongest resources in India. Output beats that average from March to May and drops below it during the July to September monsoon. Over a full year, expect 1,450 to 1,600 units per kW.
What size solar system does a 2 BHK or 3 BHK flat in Ahmedabad need?
A 2 BHK usually needs 2 to 3 kW and a 3 BHK 3 to 5 kW, but size against consumption rather than floor plan. Pull the units figure from twelve months of bills and choose the system that covers your average month. Flats in Satellite or Chandkheda also need written society permission for terrace rights before anything is filed.
How many ACs can a 3 kW or 5 kW system run in an Ahmedabad summer?
A 1.5-ton split AC draws 1.2 to 1.5 units per hour while the compressor runs. A 3 kW system making 12 to 13.5 units a day supports one AC by day plus normal household load. Two ACs through an Ahmedabad May needs 5 kW. At night you draw grid power against banked credits.
How much roof area do I need for solar in Ahmedabad?
About 90 to 100 sq ft of genuinely shadow-free area per kW, so roughly 300 sq ft for 3 kW and 500 sq ft for 5 kW. Shadow-free is the operative word. A water tank or a neighbour's parapet shading the array two hours daily costs more output than owners expect, and an elevated structure recovers usable area on a congested terrace.

Installation & service

How long does solar installation take in Ahmedabad?
Two to four days on a typical residential terrace. The full journey, from survey and proposal through the portal and licensee applications to inspection and net meter, runs several weeks, with the licensee steps as the variable. We give a date range at proposal stage and name which steps are ours.
What maintenance do solar panels need in Ahmedabad?
Mainly cleaning. Dry-season dust, loo-wind dust storms and construction along SG Highway and the Ring Road build a soiling layer that cuts output with no visible fault. Clean every two to three weeks from March to June, less through the monsoon, and check connections and earthing twice a year. Our AMC covers both.
Will solar work during the Ahmedabad monsoon and on cloudy days?
Yes, at reduced output, because panels generate from diffuse light. That is why net metering beats batteries here: the surplus exported through nine dry months offsets the July to September shortfall as bill credits. The system is sized on annual generation, not on the worst fortnight.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green Energy have an office in Ahmedabad?
No. Our only office is at Mota Varachha, Surat. We serve Ahmedabad through our channel partner network and field engineering team, who run surveys, supervise installation and handle licensee coordination on site. We state that upfront rather than implying a local branch that does not exist.
Why should I choose Heaven Green Energy over a local Ahmedabad installer?
We are an authorised Adani Solar distributor, we manufacture our own Qbits inverters, and we have delivered over 10,000 installations since 2017. Compare us on three things: the Bill of Materials, the warranty schedule split into product and performance cover, and the structure specification. If a local vendor matches all three on paper, then compare prices honestly and pick either.
