The short answer

Rooftop solar in Vadodara costs about ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh for 3 kW and ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh for 5 kW before subsidy. After the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, 3 kW nets ₹1.02 lakh to ₹1.47 lakh. Each kW makes 4 to 4.5 units a day here. MGVCL is the licensee and handles net metering. Payback runs three and a half to five years.

Price, size and savings

Find your bill. Read across.

Most Vadodara solar pages hide the price behind a callback form or quote a national average that ignores Gujarat's installer density. This table answers the question outright. Find your monthly bill in the left column, then read across for size, generation, roof area, payback and net cost.

Indicative Vadodara market ranges, 2026

These are indicative Vadodara market ranges for 2026 covering Tier-1 modules, a branded inverter, galvanised structure, protection and installation. They are not a Heaven Green Energy quotation and no quotation is implied. Subsidy amounts are the central PM Surya Ghar figures published on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Generation assumes a shadow-free, roughly south-facing roof.

Size against units, not rupees. Read the units figure off your MGVCL bill rather than the amount payable, because units are what a solar system actually cancels. The amount moves with slab rate, fuel charges and duty. The roof column says shadow-free for a reason. An overhead tank, a lift machine room or a neighbour's parapet stealing two hours a day costs more output than most buyers expect. On a tight Manjalpur or Karelibaug terrace, an elevated structure earns back its extra steel.

The 3 kW cliff is real. Subsidy covers roughly 35 to 43% of a 3 kW system but only 12 to 15% of a 10 kW one, because the scheme pays nothing above the third kilowatt. If your bill sits on the border, 3 kW returns more rupees per rupee spent.

One Vadodara-specific warning. The chemical and engineering belt around Nandesari, Makarpura and Por has produced a crowd of fabricators who sell rooftop solar as a sideline. Cheap quotes here get cheap in the structure and the cabling, never in the panel brand. Ask for a written Bill of Materials with make, model and quantity. Without one you are not comparing prices, you are comparing adjectives.

What the band actually buys. The gap between the bottom and the top of each range is galvanising thickness, DC cable gauge, earthing quality, surge protection and the rating of the mounting hardware. None of it shows in a photograph of a finished roof. All of it decides whether the array is still producing at specification in year twelve, and whether your inverter survives the first serious lightning event of a Vadodara monsoon. Price the whole assembly, not the panel sticker.

Why there is no rupee saving in that table

You will notice the table carries no rupee saving. The rupee figure depends on the slab rate you personally pay, which is printed on your own MGVCL bill. It differs between consumers and categories, so we will not invent it here. Bring your last bill to the free survey and we will work the exact number out with you, on the spot, in front of you. Prefer to work it out yourself first? Put your bill into our solar savings calculator. No phone number required.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

₹78,000

Maximum central subsidy for a residential rooftop system.

  • ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW
  • Nothing paid above 3 kW
  • Credited directly to your bank account
  • We file the entire claim for you
How the subsidy works

Five steps, and we run four of them.

Anybody advertising a bigger "Vadodara subsidy" or a special Gujarat top-up is describing something that does not exist. PM Surya Ghar is a central scheme, so the amount is identical nationwide. What changes by city is which utility processes your file, and in Vadodara that is MGVCL.

1

Register on the National Portal

You register at pmsuryaghar.gov.in using your MGVCL consumer number, mobile, Aadhaar and address. We sit with you for this step, because a consumer number that does not match MGVCL's records is the commonest reason a Vadodara application stalls before it starts.

2

Apply for feasibility, then choose your vendor

MGVCL checks the application against your sanctioned load and your service line. You then pick an empanelled vendor from the portal list. Heaven Green Energy is empanelled, so we map straight onto your application without a change request.

3

Install after approval, never before

We supply Adani modules with traceable serial numbers, a Qbits inverter and a galvanised structure, then hand you a Bill of Materials and the full warranty schedule. Installing ahead of approval is how people lose both the subsidy and the net meter.

4

Inspection and net meter

MGVCL inspects the installation, fits the bidirectional meter and raises the commissioning certificate on the portal. Our engineer attends the inspection so that earthing, isolation and protection queries are answered at the roof, not over email.

5

Claim and credit

We file the claim as soon as the certificate issues, and the government credits the subsidy directly to your bank account. The money never passes through us. Any vendor offering to collect your subsidy for you is telling you something useful about themselves.

If you are a business, this section does not apply

PM Surya Ghar covers residential consumers only. A Vadodara business, whether a Makarpura workshop or an Alkapuri clinic, cannot claim it. Businesses claim accelerated depreciation on the asset instead, which for a taxpaying firm usually returns more than the residential subsidy ever would.

MGVCL (Madhya Gujarat Vij)

Net metering: who you actually file with.

Net metering is where competing Vadodara pages get it wrong, and the error costs you every export credit you were counting on.

Vadodara is served by Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), the central Gujarat distribution licensee. It is headquartered in Vadodara itself and also covers Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar and Chhota Udepur. MGVCL is one of four state distribution companies under GUVNL. The other three are DGVCL in south Gujarat, UGVCL in the north and PGVCL across Saurashtra and Kutch. They are separate companies with separate portals and separate field offices.

Torrent Power is a different animal again. It holds distribution licences for Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Dahej SEZ and Dholera SIR. It has no licence in Vadodara. Some pages lump Vadodara in with "Torrent" because both sit in Gujarat, or point you at the DGVCL portal because Surat is nearby. Either way, they send your application to a utility that cannot process it.

Commercial terms come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), not from MGVCL and not from us. Under the GERC framework your system is capped against your sanctioned load and every consumer category may apply. Surplus units you export are credited against units you draw back from the grid.

1

Application

Consumer details, sanctioned load, proposed system rating, single-line diagram and equipment datasheets go to MGVCL under your name.

Filed by us
2

Technical feasibility

MGVCL tests whether your service line, distribution transformer and sanctioned load carry the proposed capacity. Oversized systems fail here, which is exactly why we size against sanctioned load on the first visit rather than the last.

MGVCL
3

Installation and inspection

We install and commission. MGVCL then inspects earthing, protection, isolation arrangements and metering compliance before anything is energised against the grid.

Us, then MGVCL
4

Bidirectional meter

Your existing meter is swapped for a bidirectional net meter and the commissioning certificate issues. Export credits begin from this date, not from the day the panels went up.

Not a home?

Solar for Vadodara's businesses.

Running a factory, showroom or clinic rather than a home? The arithmetic works differently and this page is written for homeowners.

Businesses in Makarpura GIDC, Nandesari, Por-Ramangamdi, Savli, Manjusar and Waghodia GIDC get no PM Surya Ghar subsidy at all. They claim accelerated depreciation on the asset instead, which for a taxpaying firm usually beats the residential subsidy outright. They can also skip the capital outlay entirely through OPEX or RESCO structures.

We deliver turnkey commercial and industrial EPC across the Vadodara belt: structural design to wind-load standards, HT and LT coordination, MGVCL registration and long-term O&M. Chemical and petrochemical sites get corrosion-rated hardware as standard, because the atmosphere at Nandesari eats ordinary fasteners. Commercial systems also sit outside the subsidy timetable entirely, so the only approval that gates you is MGVCL feasibility against your sanctioned load.

  • Engineering and fabrication units at Makarpura and Por
  • Chemical and specialty chemical plants at Nandesari
  • Automotive, rail and electronics plants at Savli and Manjusar
  • Pharmaceutical and packaging units along Waghodia Road

What Vadodara weather does to a solar system

A system specified for the Konkan coast is wrong for central Gujarat. Two local conditions change the engineering here, and a third decides whether your array is still on the roof in year ten. A vendor who ignores them quotes you less and delivers less. Vadodara sits in a semi-arid belt with a long dry season and a short, heavy monsoon, and both halves of that pattern matter to a rooftop array.

Eight dry months of soiling

Vadodara gets almost all its rain between June and September, so the glass collects dust for the other eight months. Relative humidity bottoms out near 23% in April, which keeps that dust loose and airborne. Soiling is the most underrated cause of weak output precisely because it is invisible from the ground. Plan on cleaning every two to three weeks from February to June. Our AMC covers it.

Industrial fallout on the glass

Roofs near Nandesari, Makarpura and the Por corridor pick up more than plain dust. Process emissions and heavy vehicle traffic leave a greasy film that a dry cloth smears rather than removes. That film needs proper washing, not sweeping. Near the chemical estates, specify module frames and fasteners for corrosion from the outset rather than upgrading them after the first monsoon.

May heat, then a hard monsoon

May highs sit near 40°C and push past 43°C in a bad week, and module output falls as cell temperature climbs. Real clearance between module and roof lets that heat escape. Then July and August deliver roughly 290 mm and 270 mm of rain with squally wind. Galvanising thickness, foundation design and fastener grade are what keep the array in place, and they are the first things a cheap quote thins.

Questions

Solar in Vadodara: every question answered.

17 questions Vadodara buyers actually search for, including the ones competing pages leave out. Grouped so you can skip to what you need.

Cost & subsidy

What is the cost of solar panel installation in Vadodara in 2026?
A 3 kW system runs ₹1.80 lakh to ₹2.25 lakh installed before subsidy, 5 kW ₹2.85 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh, and 10 kW ₹5.20 lakh to ₹6.30 lakh. The spread comes from structure quality, protection specification and roof height, not from the panel brand.
What is the price of a 3 kW solar system in Vadodara with subsidy?
Between ₹1.02 lakh and ₹1.47 lakh net, from ₹1.80 to ₹2.25 lakh less the ₹78,000 subsidy. A 3 kW system makes 360 to 405 units a month in Vadodara, which covers a household using 300 to 400. It is the smallest size earning the full subsidy.
How much subsidy do I get on solar panels in Vadodara?
Up to ₹78,000. Per pmsuryaghar.gov.in, PM Surya Ghar pays ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, then nothing beyond. So 1 kW earns ₹30,000, 2 kW earns ₹60,000, and 3 kW or larger earns ₹78,000. Government credits it to your bank account.
Can I get rooftop solar on EMI or a bank loan in Vadodara?
Yes. Residential rooftop solar falls under priority-sector lending and several banks and NBFCs finance it. Most Vadodara households borrow the pre-subsidy amount, then prepay principal when the subsidy lands. We can introduce financing partners, though comparing their terms against your own bank is the smarter move.

Net metering & DISCOM

Which DISCOM serves Vadodara for rooftop solar?
MGVCL, Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited, the central Gujarat licensee headquartered in Vadodara. It is a separate company from DGVCL in the south, UGVCL in the north and PGVCL in Saurashtra. Torrent Power holds no Vadodara licence, so filing there achieves nothing.
Is Vadodara under Torrent Power or MGVCL?
MGVCL. Torrent Power's Gujarat distribution licences cover Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Dahej SEZ and Dholera SIR, and Vadodara appears on none of them. Solar pages that merge all Gujarat cities under one utility are guessing, and a misfiled application simply sits unprocessed.
Is net metering available in Vadodara, and what happens to surplus units?
Yes. Under the GERC framework your system may be sized up to your sanctioned load and all consumer categories qualify. Your home consumes solar first by day and exports the surplus to MGVCL as credit against units drawn at night. A February to May surplus therefore banks against the monsoon dip. Settlement follows the GERC framework, which is why we never quote credits as cash in hand.
How long does MGVCL net metering take in Vadodara?
A few weeks from application to installed bidirectional meter, covering feasibility, post-installation inspection and the meter swap. The installation itself is only days of that. MGVCL controls the pace of the rest, so treat any installer guaranteeing a one-week net meter as a warning sign.

Sizing & performance

How many units does 1 kW of solar generate per day in Vadodara?
About 4 to 4.5 units daily, averaged across the year. Vadodara gets roughly 5.5 peak sun hours, which is among the strongest solar resources in India. Output runs above that average from February to May and below it during the July and August monsoon peak.
What size solar system do I need for a 2 BHK or 3 BHK home in Vadodara?
A 2 BHK usually needs 2 to 3 kW and a 3 BHK 3 to 5 kW, but size against consumption rather than floor plan. Pull the units from twelve months of MGVCL bills and pick the system that covers your average month, not your worst one.
How many air conditioners can a 3 kW or 5 kW system run in Vadodara?
A 1.5-ton split AC draws 1.2 to 1.5 units per hour while the compressor runs. A 3 kW system making 12 to 13.5 units a day supports one AC by day plus normal household load. Two ACs through a Vadodara May needs 5 kW. At night you draw grid power against banked credits.
How much roof area do I need for solar in Vadodara?
About 90 to 100 sq ft of genuinely shadow-free area per kW, so roughly 300 sq ft for 3 kW and 500 sq ft for 5 kW. Shadow-free is the operative word. On congested terraces in Manjalpur or Karelibaug, an elevated structure recovers usable area over tanks and stairwells.

Installation & service

How long does solar installation take in Vadodara?
Two to four days on a typical residential roof. The whole process, from survey and proposal through the portal and MGVCL applications to inspection and net meter, runs several weeks, with the MGVCL steps as the variable. We give you a date range at proposal stage and name which steps are ours.
What maintenance do solar panels need in Vadodara?
Mainly cleaning. Vadodara is dry from October to May, so dust builds on the glass and cuts output with no visible fault. Clean every two to three weeks through those months and less during the monsoon. Roofs near Nandesari and Makarpura need washing rather than wiping. Check earthing and connections twice yearly.
Will solar work during the Vadodara monsoon and on cloudy days?
Yes, at reduced output, because panels generate from diffuse light. July and August are the weakest months. This is why net metering beats batteries here. The surplus you export through the eight dry months offsets the monsoon shortfall as bill credits, so systems are sized on annual generation.

About Heaven Green

Does Heaven Green Energy have an office in Vadodara?
No. Our headquarters is at Mota Varachha, Surat. We serve Vadodara and central Gujarat through our channel partner network and field engineering team, who run surveys, supervise installation, handle MGVCL coordination and provide after-sales service locally. We say so upfront rather than implying a branch.
Why should I choose Heaven Green Energy over a local Vadodara installer?
Because of what is behind the quote: authorised Adani modules with traceable serials, inverters we manufacture ourselves as Qbits, PM Surya Ghar empanelment, and more than 10,000 installations since 2017. Compare our Bill of Materials against any local quote. That comparison is the whole point of giving you one.
