Electricity in Surendranagar, Wadhwan, Dudhrej, Joravarnagar and Ratanpar comes from Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL). This GUVNL company distributes power across Saurashtra and Kutch from its corporate office in Rajkot. PGVCL lists a separate Surendranagar Circle among its offices, and that circle covers the district. The PGVCL Disaster Management Plan 2025 puts the city in the Surendranagar division of that circle. The division is split into five sub-divisions around the twin towns: S'nagar City-I, S'nagar City-II, Wadhwan, Joravarnagar and S'nagar (R) for the villages. S'nagar is PGVCL's own shorthand for Surendranagar. Your connection sits with whichever of these is printed on your bill, so read it off the bill rather than guessing.
Surendranagar sits on the main road and rail line to Ahmedabad, and that is where confusion creeps in. Torrent Power holds the licence for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, not for Surendranagar. UGVCL serves north Gujarat, MGVCL central Gujarat and DGVCL the south. None of them distributes here. A quotation that names any of them for a Surendranagar roof was written for another town.
The terms come from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), not from PGVCL and not from your installer. Under the GERC rooftop framework your system is limited by your sanctioned load, every consumer category can apply, and exported units are set off against imported units on your bill. If you want a bigger array than your sanctioned load allows, a load enhancement request goes to PGVCL first. We check sanctioned load during the survey so that never surprises you later.
